Run Or Die

I've been running for what seems like hours. Turning left and right. Trying to lose the beast but I can still smell and hear it.

Running.

Running.

Gasping in as much air as my lungs can hold.

I can hear it still chasing me. Making a horrible crushing and grinding noise. Probably devouring one of my opponents.

My muscles and joints are screaming in pain. My feet are throbbing. I'm out of breath but I have to keep running or it will be the end for me.

A stream of cussing is rolling from my lips. My leg is covered in hot, sticky, blood.

The monster making all that noise is coming closer and closer. I can hear it.

All I can do is keep running.

Running.

And running.

I hear more screaming deeper in the maze and I'm only running in that direction but it's the only direction to go.

I can hear my heart pounding. My head is throbbing as if I had slammed it on a table, several times.

Something shiny caught my attention, I would have missed it if it wasn't for the light shining on it in a perfect angle.

I run towards what caught my attention. It's some type of door. It was painted so it would blend in with the walls but it was the door hinge that wasn't painted.

I can still hear the monster coming towards me. I quickly pushed open the door with all my might and shut it.

It was dark but I knew that I was in the walls. I put my hands on the cold gray stone walls and start walking.

I don't hear anything but I can't be so sure.

The light that came on startled me so much that fell to the floor but I got up quickly.

I feel someone put their hand on my shoulder. I grabbed their hand and twisted it until I heard a loud crack and a scream. I turned around and their was a man that was about six foot tall and he had a lab coat on. In his hand was a gun and he had it pointed to my forehead.

He said, "You think you're so damn smart. For finding out this secret passage through the walls. No one escapes so I will have to kill you myself."

His voice was very similar. It was the same low and deep voice that told us if one of us made it out of the maze alive then we'll get one wish granted.

I was starting to get tired of his bullshit so I knocked his hands to the side with my foot and grabbed the gun. I kicked him onto the ground but on the way down he punched me at my right temple on my forehead.

I was seeing some black spots in my vision but I pointed the gun at him. When the man started getting up I shot his right leg. He fell back to the ground with a loud thump. His scream ringed in my ears. He tried to grab me with his arms but I pointed the gun right at his left arm and shot. There was a bang but this time he didn't scream.

The man went unconscious and he was laying in a puddle of blood. I was enjoying myself too much. I held the gun steady and focused on the pale space between his eyes.

I chuckled and pulled the trigger.

The man was dead.
