*Regina's pov*
I slung my backpack's strap over my shoulder and adjusted it so it fitted comfortably against my spine. The subjects this year required really heavy books, much heavier than the ones I'm used too. But then again none of the other schools I had attended had actually cared about your grades or how well you did in exams. But the teachers here seemed to care, at least thats what the weight of these textbooks told me. And considering Emma's bag was also bulging with what I presumed were her textbooks, the students seemed to care as well.I followed Emma around twists and turns, down stairs and along halls until i was completely lost in this labyrinth of a school. All the while Emma seemed to keep her bearings and within half an hour we had covered most of the schools main buildings.
This place is huge, I could get lost here for weeks without finding my way out
I shuddered at the thought.
Lets just get through the first day without getting lost shall we? I asked my self Great now I'm talking to myself."Regina?" Emma's voice snapped me from my thoughts "Regina are you alright?" Concern flitted over the blondes face as a delicate curl fell into her eyes. Oh those eyes. Bright pools of blue that I could lose my self in...wait what?
"Yea...I'm fine just nervous I guess" I shrugged my shoulders and stared down and my scuffed boots. I needed new ones, these were falling apart around my feet.
When Emma didn't say anything I chanced a glance up and caught the blonde smiling shyly at me, but as soon as my gaze caught hers she looked away, a blush creeping up her neck.
"Umm...what subject do you have first?" I fumbled for the piece of paper in my pockets and pulled out the already slightly ripped schedule. Unfolding the paper and scanned the columns, my mind a jumble and not able to focus on the letters and numbers printed on the piece of paper in my hands. Why was she looking at me? Did I make a fool of myself already?
'Erm...I do believe I have English first block" I held the piece of paper out to her to double check I had read it right. I didn't want to turn up to the wrong class on the first day. That would just be embarrassing. She grasped the piece of paper from between my fingers and held it close to her face as though she needed glasses but had not worn them or fogotten them.
"Yes you do, Mr Gold, the same as me" I smiled at her, happy I would know someone in the class. "And you could sit next to me if you wanted? so you have a friend next to you" My smile grew "Friend? you wanna be friends with me?"
"Of course, why wouldn't I?" a slight frown creased her brow
"Umm...well...I'm...well I'm the new girl and no one want's to be friend with the new girl"
She linked her arm through mine and lead me back down the main hall towards to now open administration office.
"well I want to be your friend so i guess you're stuck with me" a goofy smile spread across my face at those words
a friend, i have a friend
