I froze before I suddenly came to my senses. Running to the door on the opposite side of the room, I swung it open. This resulted in me leaving my father and the strange guest stunned. It took a while for the guards to recollect themselves before running after me, their armor clanging as they moved their limbs. As I ran, I reached a strange part of the castle I had never visited before. My shoes made loud tapping sounds as they pounded against the perfectly polished marble floor. I look up at the grey stone walls. Hundred year old tapestries flew past my vision as I ran. A painting of my parents flew past me and I stopped to stare at it. Lost in my thoughts as I stared at the delicate brush work, the sound of metal grinding against metal greeted my ears.. My head flew to the right to see my fathers guards running down after me. I turned and started running again. My simple red dress flowing around me as I ran. I bolted around the corner and hid in a small crevice. The guards shouts grew louder then softer as they passed. Eventually, the only sound that could be heard was my heavy breathing.
After mere moments that seemed to go on forever, I risked peeking my head out into the hallway. The guards were not in view. I cautiously stepped out of my crevice and looked around. The hallways were unfamiliar to me, which obviously meant this place was forbidden. I noticed a door that was on the opposite side an down a little bit of the corridor. The dark oak enticed me as my feet moved me towards. There was a sense of foreboding surrounding the door, which only increased the closer to it I got. My feet refused to obey my orders when I told them to stop moving. This only soured them to go faster. Once I reached the door, my hand ran over the delicate carvings. The intricate cherubs and flowers only added to the mystery behind the door. Suddenly, my hand disobeyed me as well as I reached for the handle. My fingers grasped the brass door knob and turned. The hinges creaked as I pulled the heavy door open. I quickly ran into the room before the heavy door behind me slammed shut. Trapped in the dark, my hands frantically searched for some form of light. When that attempt turned futile, I turned around and felt for a door handle. That to, was pointless. I sighed when I realized the only way to escape was to wait for rescue, or move forward. I stuck my arms out ahead of me and cautiously walked forward. The darkness engulfed me as my footsteps echoed with each hazardous step I took.
Finally, after what seemed like hours, a small sliver of light entered my view. I smiled to myself as I inched closer, arms outstretched. My Fingers touched a rough, wooden surface. After a few moments of frantic searching, my hands grasped around a ball of cold metal. The sliver of light grew larger as I twisted the door handle and pulled it open. The blinding light hit my eyes and I struggled to see as my eyes started to water. Eventually, my eyes got used to the brightness and I could see clearly. From what I could see, I had managed to walk across to the other side of the castle, and it took me some time to. I was staring a huge window that took up the space of a whole wall in the room I was in. From out of the window, I could see the pine forest that was quite a distance from the castle. Closer to the castle, but not quite walking distance away, was the huge Haiko forest. Huge oak trees covered most of the canopy, with a few scrappy branches from other trees sprouting above the green leaves. The bareness of those trees signified the coming of winter and alerted us to stock up our food storages. A few birds could be seen flying overhead, nestling in the trees getting ready for the darkness of the night. Below the towering trees, deer and other various wildlife were drinking happily from the lake right next to the castle. They were seemingly unaware of the dangers that the water could be hiding in its depth. To complete the image, the sun had just touched the edge of the forest, slowly falling beneath the horizon as it took the light with it. I smiled as my gaze rose, following the bright orange to a pale pink, which eventually faded into a darker blue, signifying the coming of night.
I looked away from the window and surveyed the room. It appeared I had emerged in a bedroom of some sorts. I looked at the walls to see homely tapestries hanging from the ceiling. A four poster bed sat in the middle of the wall opposite the huge window. I looked at the stitching on the bedsheets and smiled as I noticed the family crest on a field of crimson. Suddenly, there was a sharp pain in the back of my head as it slammed against a brick wall. I looked up slightly dazed and saw a robed figured in front of me, pressing their arm against my chest and pinning me against the wall. I tried to look downwards but my movement was restricted by the knife held against my throat.
"Who are you?"
"I, um I'm the Princess." I croak caused to the knife close to drawing blood.
The knife loosens, but not completely. "There is no Princess." The stranger says bluntly. I attempt laughter, but am soon deprived caused to my immediate coughing.
"Laughing, my friend, will not in the lightest help the situation you are in now."
"As I gathered." I mutter.
"So tell me, you are you really?" she asks, curiousity in her tone.
"Emerald, the princess of France! My life is dull, and worthless, bearly anyone has heard of me, and i assume it will stay that wa until my cornination." I say.
"Prove it!"
I sigh, and display my hand. It holds the ring of our country. There are 2: One for the Aire, and one for the ruler. Of course My fathers is much more grander than ny own, but to be most honest, I prefer mine... it holds a rare Ruby, the metal around my finger made up of diamonds, and surrounding the red ruby are small pearls, carved perfectly into round speres.
I look up fom my hand to the strangers face. She was mesmorized, her eyes glued to the ring.
"I - I - I'm so sorry your highness." She apoligises. She curtsies, which only makes me laugh.
Thats so what you see every day: One minute a stranger trying to kill you, and the next her boing before you...
