Oz PoV
Upon stepping through the gates of the overly pink school I discovered that Ouran Academy truly lived up to its name. Of the students already chatting in groups it was obvious that they were all filthy rich. Well, with a a female uniform like that they had to be. It was yellow, frilly and extremely poofy. Of course, being the only son and heir to the Vessalius family business, I am rich.
"Oz!" I heard a voice calling me from behind. I turned and grinned as Gil ran up to me. We had been friends since we were small, our families were on close business terms. After all he is a Nightray. Trailing behind him was his detestable brother, Vincent.
"Hey Gil, isn't this place huge!" I say gesturing to the many buildings. Gilbert's dark hair contrasted my light blonde as he pulled me into a hug.
"Yeah, it's an interesting shade," he smiles.
"Oz, how wonderful to see you," Vincent says bowing his head slightly at me,his mixed eyes trained on me. I return the bow.
"Vincent," I say out of good manners. We had never really got on. He had a brother complex, being the younger he always looked up to Gil. He didn't like it when Gil showed any kind of brotherly affection towards others.
"Let's go inside," Gil gestures to the door and I run inside.
The halls are grand and light streams in from the windows. It's beautiful, if not slightly over the top for a Highschool. Gil seems to be thinking the same thing because his eyes widen slightly. Suddenly I feel something hit me. I look down and see a girl scowling up at me from where she had fallen. She had long dark brown hair and enchanting violet eyes which were clouded with anger.
"Watch it!" She yells getting to her feet, the scowl still firmly planted on her face.
"Oh, I'm sorry," I apologise quickly. She narrows her eyes slightly but doesn't reply.
"I'm Oz by the way," I smile at her.
"Alice," she replies curtly. Gil steps forward slowly.
"Gilbert Nightray and this is my younger brother Vincent," he says offering his hand.
"Anyway I'm looking for my classroom," she says and starts to walk away quickly. Gilbert and I exchange a small shrug.
"What an intriguing young lady," Vincent smiles slightly. God he's creepy.
"Well, we should also get to class," Gil turns and examines his timetable. I know that I'm in class 2 but I don't know about Gil. He frowns.
"I'm in class 3,". Damn we aren't together. I quickly look at my own timetable. Room 2-2, wherever that is. Gil looks about for someone to ask. We both seem to decide that boy with glasses and short brown hair looks smart enough to know his way around.
"Excuse me, could you tell us how to get to our classrooms please?" Gilbert asks. The boy stops.
"Of course. Actually your in the same class as me," he says to Gilbert pushing his glasses up. Vincent and I quickly offer our timetables to him.
"Popular are we, ne Reim-kun," a boy with startling white hair pops out from behind glasses boy. He has a lopsided grin and perhaps most strange was his one wine red eye, his other was covered by his fringe.
"Your classroom is near ours and class 1-3 is over in the other building," the boy fires out directions for us. Once he is done Silence falls.
"Oh, I'm Gilbert Nightray and this is my younger brother Vincent," Gil uses his classic introduction.
"I'm Oz!" I grin, though it's getting tiring now. The taller boy pushes his glasses up and opens his mouth to speak.
"Xerxes Break at your service," the white haired boy cuts in throwing his arm around the other boys neck. "And this is my important friend, Reim!". Reim quickly pushed him off looking disgruntled. The bell rang and the students crowding the halls started to leave for class.
"Well we don't want to be late on the first day," Reim says. Gil turns to Vincent.
"Have a good day, Vince," he pats his brothers light blonde hair. Vincent returns the good wishes before turning and plunging into the crowd. I turn back to Xerxes and Reim, the latter of which is tapping his foot rather impatiently. Gil and I hurry after them to our classrooms. Xerxes splits off from us, heading to a different classroom as he is in the year above. Rooms 2-2 and 2-3 are next to each other which makes it easier. Reim enters not giving me a single glance, he seemed to be very stressed about getting to class.
"I'll see you later Oz. Don't get into any trouble while I'm gone," Gil says, concern flooding his features. I smile slightly. Always so worrisome.
"Don't worry," is all I say before I stride into my classroom. Most students are already seated. Since I'm new I will introduce myself and then be given a seat.
"Hello, I'm Oz Vessalius, it's a pleasure to meet you," I say. The teacher gives me a seat next to a window. It's great for daydreaming. I stare out at the stunning gardens the school has, many beautiful blossom trees and colourful flowers. A familiar voice pulls me from the view.
"I'm Alice, nice to meet you," the girl from earlier half shouts. She takes her seat next to me. I grin at her and for the first time she smiles back. It appears that we were the only new students in our class. The teacher's voice becomes blurred as I turn to look out the window again. I'll be just fine here.A/N: So this is the beginning of a story that I started last year. I only just re discovered it and I kind of enjoy writing it so I thought I should publish it. I can't promise regular updates, life is always busy. But all comments are appreciated (constructive criticism helps me develop my writing) :)
See you in the next chapter, my friend!
