Marah was confused. Though being 200 years old, about half the time Marah didn't know what to say, or what was going on half the time. Part of her wanted to jump up and down cheering, part of her wanted to cry heartbroken way, and part of her was craving Cesar salad.
Marah slouched back in her chair, some part of her hurt because of that if. If it didn't kill her. Her mentors had just shrugged off her life like they could find a new necromancer from Necromancers R' Us. Marah had always been pushed aside. That is a pretty big if.
"That was a pretty big if".
Marah looked up at the young man emerging from the densely packed shadows of the hearth. Marah could us a range of words to describe him, handsome, fierce, hot. He had long, sturdy legs, ripped jeans, spiky black hair, black, almost purple eyes, a black jacket, leather hunting gloves, and white T-Shirt. He also looked seventeen, but the purple fire in his eyes told Marah otherwise.
Marah couldn't tare her eyes of of the man as he gracefully strided tword the birch table.
Mother Nature looked up from lecturing Julio," Oh, Scorpio nice of you to drop in sweetie, but do tell me, how is that a big if?"
Scorpio grabbed one of Mother Nature's dreadful brews and took a small, dramatic sip," This is her life, and you can't just gamble it off. Plus the Scythe of Nite is missing".
Mother Nature pointedly glared at Scorpio," Have you forgotten we agreed that remained a secret?"
Scorpio's eyes sparkled inhumanly bright," Oops. Sorry"
Mother Nature sighed," What's said is done. You might as well fill her in", then Mother Nature stalked out beckoning Julio after her.
Scorpio stepped into the shadows, and held out his arm," Shall we?"
Marah raised an eye brow as she walked over to Scorpio," 'Shall we' what?"
Scorpio's eyes gleamed brighter as he grabbed Marah's burnt wrist. Marah struggled against his grip, but it was impossible. His grip was as strong as steel, and two times colder.
Marah looked up at Scorpio, his eyes were almost too bright to looked at, but Marah had the urge to look at them. Marah caught his eye, the temature in the room dropped to freezing. Her legs felt like they were melting, Marah looked down at herself, shadows were leeching into her skin from were Scorpio was gripping onto her arm. Marah looked at Scorpio, or what was left of him, before her stood a colum of dark energy, pure blackish purple shadow. Marah opened her mouth to scream, but when she tried she felt as if the air had been sucked out of her. The shadows had desolved her whole body.
Marah knew how it felt to be burnt, but not how it felt to melt. To her it felt like your foot falling asleep, but five times more agonizing. Along the feeling of melting Marah could feel the shadows behind her whispering her greatest fear, something she had always been ashamed of. The air around her radiated fear, anger, hatred, and longing.
Before her eyes Marah saw flashes of her loved ones deaths. She saw flashes of her regrets, crushed dreams, and everything she longed for that she lost.
Marah came to her senses as she crashed to the floor. Marah's whole body was racked with pain. Scorpio stood over her, his eyes looked like shattered glass, but he still managed to look guilty. Math couldn't help think about what Scorpio might have seen.
"You get used to it after time, the flashback I mean", Scorpio told Marah as if reading her mind, but even Scorpio sounded uncertain. Scorpio offered his hand to Marah, who was still sprawled out on the floor.
"How do I know that you aren't going to", Marah paused," Um... Do what ever you did"
"Manipulate the shadows?" Scorpio offered smiling evilly.
Marah nodded uncertainly.
"I swear I won't", Scorpio put his hand up.
Marah let Scorpio help her up, something about Scorpio put her to ease, but her hardcore instincts told her not to trust him.
Marah decided to push that topic aside before she get a headache," So, Scorpio, where are we?"
