That Monday I woke up and quickly got and dressed... I was going to help Ashton pack! I know it's not knew for me to go over to Ashton's house and spend the day there, but I was just so excited to leave and start my new life... My short future of 4 years in college! Then it was into life.
I was sure I had already met the one years ago. And don't get me wrong. This isn't some 7th grade crush type of thing. No. It was real. It was love. I didn't just love Ashton, I was in love with Ashton. I knew he didn't feel the same, but a part of me always made me hope there was a chance.
I flew down stairs, ate my waffles and finished breakfast in record time and I grabbed my keys. Right before I could walk out the door, my mom called me. "Going to Ashton's sweetheart?" She asked in a non-surprised tone.
"Yes mom. Be back for dinner, promise!" I said loud as I ran out the door.
It was no surprise to my mom I was going over to Ashton's. She new about my 'crush' since who knows when.
In fact I practically lived at his house. My dad was at work all the time and had a work trip almost all the time, and my mom had night shifts at the hospital. And since I don't like staying home alone, I live over there.
Of course Ashton's mom, Lisa didn't mind in fact they lived 3 houses done so it wasn't a problem. Every now and then Ashton would stay at my house. Don't think to much! Nothing would happen. We were best friends!
The drive there was of course short! Three houses down!!! I still took my car. You never know when you want pizza!
"Hey, your car still in the shop?" I asked getting out of my Chevy truck. I hoped down. The truck stood at close to 3 feet higher than me. I was short. About 5 feet and 5in. Ashton however was 6 foot 7in.
Ashton came over closer picking me up from the small drop from the curb. "Yep." He said in a upset tone. He dropped me down on the sidewalk. "So I see the whole gang is here!" I said looking at all the small cars packed in the drive way. He had a big drive way! He had one of those really big half circle drive ways. "Yes they are and you are late as alway!" "Well, in my defiance, mom made pancakes..." I said looking at him with a big smile with my eyes close. I always call my mom and his mom, mom. He did the same. "How are you not fat!" He said in a sarcastic tone. I laughed and walk in with his arm around my shoulder.
His house was big. It had a open floor plan that flowed throughout the house. He had wood floors and wood stairs. He also had to sliding glass doors just behind the dinning table in front of the kitchen. He ran up stairs not even waiting for me.
"Jerk" I said as I close the door behind me. We were in his room. "Stop flirting, you two!" Brynli happily said. Ashton didn't pay attention to this. My friends were open with my crush... Yet Ashton didn't know I liked him. Weirdo right?
He pulled out 8 pairs of boxer briefs, and put them in his suit case... The were all blue and grey and black.... Man, If I could get my hands on them. Though of course they'd be on him....
"Shayla... Come back to earth!!!" I awoken from my trance. I didn't realize I was watching Ashton's every move till Kylie's hand was in fount of my face saying 'come back to earth.'
"Wow girl you need to stop or one day Ashton will know you like him..." Kylie whispered to me so no one else could her us. They were all talking about how 'they couldn't wait to get there', and 'their lives were just starting.' Me and Kylie wait a minute then join in.
"So Ashton, are you finally gonna find a girlfriend at this new school. Or are you gay now?" She had a point Ashton never had a girlfriend before. We all brake out laughing but Ashton.
"Ha... Ha... And no I'm not gay. Thank you very much." He said that last part spinning on his heel and smacking his lips at the 'much' part. He started going through clothes, picking out his favorite outfits.
"Stop picking on the poor guy. He just hasn't found 'the one' yet. He will. I have a feeling that they are very close." He raised a eye brow then looked at me waiting for Ashton to answer. Ashton looking at him then looking at me. "Look guys, we are just friends and that all we will ever be. And for the 'right one' no I haven't found the right one yet. But I will, soon." The room went silent I could feel a tear falling down my face. His words repeating in my head. 'We are just friends and that's all we ever will be.' I wiped it away and played it off. The next few days were going to be horror for me.
