Oops!
It was a nice sunny Monday at school. The kids were tired and many anxiously awaited the lunch bell. Melissa, our very funny classmate, was especially hungry. She couldn't wait to have today's lunch special, spaghetti and meatballs!
Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, it was time for lunch. RRRIing went the bell, the students pushed and shoved nosily into the cafeteria. After they had all sat down, all eyes turned to Melissa. She was so excited! Her stomach was growling and her mouth watered, the kids all watched with interest as Melissa plunged her fork into a fat, juicy meatball.
But suddenly, to everyone's surprise, her fork missed the meatball and caught the side of it. The meatball went flying off her plate and hit Nicole in the face. Everyone laughed at her and started to call her pizza face.
"Nice one!" shouted Molly, Melissa's BFF. Nicole was not happy. Her ears started to steam and her face became redder and redder. In fact, she started to look like a meatball.
"Who threw that meatball?" screamed Nicole. Her BFF Kaylyn, was gathering napkins so Nicole could clean her face.
Because Melissa was so popular, no one pointed her out. Instead, they pointed at Derrick, the kid who talked to himself all the time.
"What did I do?" asked Derrick. He was talking to himself again like always.
Lauren, Hanako, Brianna, and Christina, Melissa and Molly's other BFF's, started to whisper to one another. Then they started to laugh.
"What's so funny?" asked Melissa.
"Oh nothing," said Hanako. She was still laughing.
The nurse came and gave Nicole a new shirt and then everything was restored. Melissa and Molly started discussing the crayon/candle they had made last summer and how they had used a blow torch to melt the wax.
When lunch was over everyone went to fifth period and everything went back to normal.
