Hi, my name is Piper Chapman, and I'm 17. Through my junior year, I struggled with my sexuality; I knew I was gay, but I didn't want to admit it. I finally decided this summer that I would come out to my parents, who, though super religious, I thought would accept their daughter for who she is. But it turns out they don't, and kicked me out. When they kicked me out, I walked three miles to my grandmother's house, crying, and told her the story. She said she agreed that God would hate it, but she couldn't let her grandchild live in the streets, so she let me stay with her. I lived with her for a month before I started my senior year. This is my first day of the school year, and I hope seeing old faces will make me happier.
