Chapter Five: We are Getting Back Together
Seven days have past, before I last talked to Lilly, and it's devastating. It'd be awkward if I approached her, because I was the one who screwed up. I should've just believed her, and things would be so much better for both of us. I can see her struggle finding friends in school, and I swear I hate to see it. I was just confused about everything, I didn't know what to do. Oftentimes when I'm confused, and I can't function, I just run away from reality. It's called alone- and- think- time. I really need to speak to her before school, and apologize, and explain things.
Speaking of the devil, I got a message from her, a really long one:
"Hey Lacy, how are your days going? Did you hear anything from Lucy? Anyways, I'm here to tell you that I'm really am your young friend. Today at seven thirty, I will prove to you that I am your friend, at Starbucks. You have every right to be confused. Lacy I'm not mad at you, at all. I just miss you so much, I need you, in my life here. Please be there, I'll pay for your breakfast too. We could also go out to the beach or something if you like. Bye, I love you. Xoxo, Lilly".After that message, I was so happy and excited to see her back again, that I was happy to go to school. On a Monday morning, with a Calculus test first thing in the morning. I quickly took a shower, and wore a decent outfit. A red top with a huge bow on the side, over it a blue cardigan, paired with a dark blue, denim, distressed jeans. Straightened my hair, grabbed my car keys, and headed down to the kitchen island. There was a flower bouquet and a note next to my backpack. It was from Lilly, and she brought me my favorite kind of flowers, lavenders. She knew that flowers made me happy, and in that note, she wrote with a lavender colored felt pen marker: "One proof: You love lavenders".
I saw her there sitting next to the window, at Starbucks café. My favorite place, because you can see the park at the other side of the street. You can see the birds flying, and children running. It was a hobby of mines, to people watch. It spaced out my mind, and it was a great way for me to escape reality.
She sat there sipping her coffee, with a pile of small papers right infront of her. Her backpack, was placed under her legs, the first zipper open. She might've placed the proof papers there. I straightened my shirt, and headed to the table with a small smile plastered on my face.
"Hey Lilly!", I wave at her awkwardly, with a goofy grin on my face.
"Hey Lacy", she replied, and stood up to welcome me with a bone crushing hug. We earned some stares by the people sitting adjacent to us. Surprisingly, they all started to clap for us as if they knew about the little disagreement we had.
"Oh my god, Lacy I miss you so damn much!", she said as we settled in, with my lemon mint breeze, and turkey sandwich infront of me.
"Me too! I'm so sorry about what happened, I was just so confused, and-", she cut me off, by showing me a picture, of me wearing a yellow sundress, my head thrown back in laughter as I go round, and round in the merry-go-round, at the local park. There next to me was Lilly, her blonde hair covering her face as she grips my hand, as we, clearly, enjoy our ride in the merry go round.
"Do you remember this, Lacy? This is when we were seven years old", she asks as she points at this picture. I take the picture from her hands, and start touching it, missing the old, golden days. The days that we started our spectacular friendship with. We go through each picture she brought for proof, laughing at some, and nearly crying at others. I'm so happy that we were through the little break we had, and that we're back. Lilly is a genius, for bringing us back with special moments of our life.
Oh Calculus, oh sweet, not-complicated-at-all Calculus, oh Calculus you welcome me every week with such a warm, welcoming hug, NOT! Hence that sentence full of sarcasam there. That same morning, an hour later, we had a Calculus test. I am not prepared for it at all, and I was scanning the pages of the heavy textbook. This was hella hard material for a test! I really need a makeup test for this, because of all the drama that was going on in my life. Teachers are humans too, they have to understand that my sister was missing, and she's no where to be found. But, when you have a teacher like Mr. Byron, you're a robot. You don't have a life, all you do is just study for his class, and obey his strict orders. My heart started to panic, when he started passing the papers out. I just have to cross my fingers, and just hope for the best. Encouraging myself, and saying that I can do it, and it can't be that hard, I was more comfortable about taking the test now.
