When I lost my mother, I was not devastated like my dad or even shed a few tears like my older brother, Jake. I only felt numb. And that numbness stayed with me for years. I just did not care about anything. Other than to study. It was ridiculous, everyone of my family had already gotten over my mom. So why was I still feeling this way? Maybe it was because I refused to believe she even died in the first place. Or maybe I was always reminded of her, whenever I looked at the pictures of mom still sitting by the livingroom.

My dad who recently transfered over to the cloning department, the newest department our city, which was just created 2 months ago after cloning humans was legalized 5 years ago. Asked me if I wanted to go visit his laboratory, afterschool. Maybe if I didn't hate the idea of cloning people, and giving them fake identities, maybe I would have said yes. If course, that is not the reality. I went anyways, since my dad was picking me up and he had to stop by his workplace.

"C'mon Macy, it will only be for a sec." My dad said.

I slouched, crossing my arms, "Dad, when you say a second you actually mean 10 minutes. Right?"

He laughs, "No, when I mean a sec, I mean 5 minutes."

I sigh, clearly upset I even agreed to be picked up, "Fine."

When we arrived inside, there was literally no one there. Except the clones, obviously. They were wondering around this small white sound - proofed, room.

"Isn't it cool how many shapes and sizes of clones there are?" Dad says, also viewing the room.

"Real people would be better."

Dad shakes his head, "Macy, they are real people. They have all the past memories of their original user. And act like them too."

I stop watching the clones, and walk towards the dark room at the opposite side. "What's this for?"

"Oh, that's where the special clone is." Dad says, looking a bit sad, "When we cloned him, he didn't have the memories of his past user. He had no memories, whatsoever. He's confused... He's the only clone that has even questioned if he is normal. He is different."

I pull up my hood, and stare at the door. The clone who questions what he really is, huh? It's kind of like those movies Jake likes to watch.

"Can I meet him?" I ask.

Dad picks up the paperwork he left behind, looking up quickly. "No, we need permission from the upperclasses."

I sigh, disappointed, "When things finally got interesting."

Dad rolls his eyes, "Later in your life, you will find something more interesting than this."

I shrug, "Maybe, but this will probably be a one time experience."

Dad checks his watch, changing the conversation, "Look at what we got here, 5 minutes exact. Let's go, Macy."

That wasn't my last visit though. It was more like my first.
