Sorry if the end is kinda awful, I worked under pressure for this story. It was a story I had to write in a day and for my grades in English.
Sitting in the south-east part of Asia is an archipelago with islands so beautiful and breath-taking, with treasures unknown by its own people, with its people too busy to see the things within. This archipelago also has a hidden pyramid and three kids are dangerously on the quest to find it before it falls into the wrong hands. This archipelago is called, the Philippines.
10:00 a.m., Friday morning, at the Garcia residence:
“Ugh! Dan stole my wallet again!” Amy shouted while chasing her brother, Dan. “Dan! Give me back my wallet!” Dan was actually taller than Amy, even though he was younger than her. Someone came down the stairs and that was enough to make Dan scared so he dropped Amy’s wallet and tried to run.
“What’s all the fuss about!?” said Mary while going down the stairs. “Nothing!” exclaimed Dan. Dan was afraid of his older sister, that’s why his one and only rule is: as long as you don’t get on her bad side, you’ll live a long life.
“You guys, it’s a holiday today and I’m trying to get some beauty sleep. Now please just keep quiet,” Mary warned her siblings. Amy checked the calendar and noticed that it’s the Philippine Independence Day today. So Amy and Dan just played some scrabble while waiting for their parents to come home.
Mary then came down holding her phone in one hand and her purse in the other. “Guys get dressed. Mom and Dad are waiting for us,” Amy noticed that Mary was wearing formal clothes, “where exactly are they waiting for us?” Amy asked in awe. Mary just smiled and told them both that they were waiting at the Philippine National Museum. Dan rushed up the stairs and into his room, he loved museums—especially the National Museum.
At the museum after their Dad had given his speech, their Mother cut the ribbon and the new exhibit was now open. Dan rushed inside—after all, he is a museum lover. Amy and Mary followed behind. Once they were in they enjoyed the exhibit but noticed something with the things in it. The broken pieces of the old clay pots looked like it had a map on it. The weapons that were found on the other side of the exhibit had inscriptions on them—if looked with a magnifying glass. The siblings decided it was time once again to bring back their old lives. It was time for another quest.
That night the siblings told their parents they were to stay overnight at the Edsa-Shangrila Hotel. Once they checked in, they went to the museum after closing hours and went to the new exhibit. Amy was in charge of looking out for policemen, Mary was preparing the gadgets and Dan was taking pictures for them to investigate later on.
When Amy looked at her sister, she rolled her eyes—her sister was wearing fashionable clothes at a time like this. Then Dan saw a shimmering object across the room, he told his sisters and Mary stood up to get the shimmering object. She walked slowly and carefully in order to avoid any traps—if there were any. She reached the other side of the room and picked up the shimmering object—boom—it was a trap. Strings of all colours shot out of every place and Mary was stuck in the middle of all of it. Dan told her not to move yet, and then he used a cotton swab with a special chemical to check if there were any chemicals on the strings. The cotton swab turned green—meaning the strings were coated in acid. “The strings have acid on them!” Dan warned his sister, “Don’t make a move just yet!”
“Why on Earth would I want to move and get burned by acid! Of course I won’t move!” Mary screamed back at her brother. Amy noticed that the shimmering object Mary was holding had a part of it which was pointing to something. Amy told her sister what she saw. Mary looked down and saw what Amy was talking about. She followed wherever the light was pointing and she was eventually able to get out of the strings. Mary looked at her brother and his mouth was wide open.
Dan took the object from Mary’s hand, took a picture of it with his laptop, opened it up in an app and magnified it 200 times. The object had a map to the Hidden Island of Sidapa.
“According to this article: the Island of Sidapa is just a myth, and according to this article: the island is somewhere within the Philippine range but no one has ever seen it yet,” explained Dan. “But who is this Sidapa guy anyway?” Amy blurted out when Amy came into the room, “Yeah, who is he?” Dan explained that he was the Philippine god of death, which meant that the island could have a curse of death or something. “Well now I think it’s okay to use our boat now, isn’t it?” said Amy looking out the window overlooking the sea. The three set out to on sea with Mary steering the boat while Amy and Dan told her where to go. “Stop we’re here,” said Dan. Amy asked where the island was because they were in the middle of nowhere. Mary told Amy to hold the boats steering wheel and there she went to Dan. She grabbed his laptop, opened a picture of a spear with an inscription on it which read: “Sidapa ang panginoon ng mga patay” so Mary read the inscription and with her words the sea started to shake violently. “What did you do!?” screamed Dan. Then the hidden Island of Sidapa arose.
The siblings jumped of their boat and unto the island. The island was filled with broken pieces of pots, stone, and everywhere there were dead trees with black flowers and dried leaves. Mary remembered that the shimmering object was still in her pocket so she got it and it was shining once again. Amy and Dan saw that it was shining and they followed it again.
They found a stone-stepped pyramid with Sidapa written in ancient Alibata. Dan saw amulets hanging in a nearby dead tree; he grabbed it and gave each of them an amulet. They wore it and went inside. They had to face a lot of traps, but they were able to get to the centre of the pyramid. They saw the precious Ruby of Life. They also saw drawings on the walls telling them to break the Ruby and the curse shall be lifted. They did what the drawings said and they were able to save the Filipino nation.
