When I walked inside Frankfort Memorial High, I instantly rolled my eyes. My school was ghetto fabulous to the core, and the decorations didn't help one bit. Ugly paintings with even uglier pale paint covered the walls, topped with gang affiliated graffiti. And just as any other kid from around here, I hated my school. And with a passion! With it's raggedy equipment and old heating systems that screamed they needed replacements. But somehow we coped with it, and got use to it.
I walked over to my locker, when my bestfriend, Lauren walked up to me.
"Hey girl, wassup?" I asked, suddenly in a good mood, due to her presence.
"Girl nothin', chillin' like a villain." she joked, making the both of us laugh. We talked briefly for a moment until we got to a different subject.
"Hey, you seen that new boy Ronnie?" She asked.
"Naw, I literally just got here girl!" I said chuckling.
"Oh, well boy is fwuyne!" I laughed at the way she said it.
"Oh, the thirst." I said rolling my eyes. She gave me a mean mug.
"Girl, you know I'm playin'!" I said hitting her on the shoulder.
We walked down the hall, as she told me about how her older brother, Dorian was getting on her nerves yesterday.
Then, I spotted this fine, tall light skinned boy I've never recognized, walking down the hall with a couple of friends, while he was checking me out, smiling.
I tried to act like I wasn't paying him any attention, as we stared into each other's eyes. I'm guessing that was Ronnie. He and his group passed us up in the hall. It took me by surprise, because I was sure he was going to stop and try and talk to me, but he didn't, he just kept on walking. Lauren noticed the surprised look on my face.
"Girl, you aight?" She asked in a confused tone. I nodded, shrugging it off.
I just started to think of reasons why he'd just keep on walking like that. 'I guess he's shy or something. I mean why else wouldn't he want to talk to the prettiest AND most popular girl in the whole school? Unless he was crazy or something... Especially if I was actually interested.' I thought. Then I heard someone say
"Yo, I'll catch y'all niggas later!" as footsteps followed behind us. They got extremely close, and I could tell the person was directly behind us as they said
"Hey ma, what's ya' name?" the voice from behind called. Lauren turned around.
"Me?" she said laughing, as if it were the corniest thing she'd ever heard.
"Nah, ya' friend." he said grinning. "You got a name?" he asked. I looked around awkwardly, trying to hide my blush.
"Bianca... Did ya' mama not give you a name or somethin'?" I asked. He laughed.
"Ronnie." He said, reaching his hand out for me to shake. I did, expecting a casual 'Shake, shake, drop', but instead, he took my hand up to his lips, softly kissing my fingertips.
Bringing them down, I awkwardly tried to release my hand from his loose grip. I was certain my blush was showing obviously now, as Lauren gave me one of those 'Ooh girl! He like you!' Looks. I broke the silence by clearing my throat.
"Soo.. um.. N-Nice to meet you Ronnie, are y-" I was interrupted by Lauren's extremely obvious clearing of her throat. "Oh, and this my bestfriend, Lauren." I said, rolling my eyes. She smiled as if she were satisfied by my response. "But, uh, as I was saying, are you new?" I asked him.
"Yeah, I just transferred from Brooklyn." He said. I thought to myself 'He should be fun. Different from these ATL boys I've dated.. But I'm not really that interested.. Atleast for now.'
"I figured. I could tell by the 'ma'." I said. He smiled as if he were embarrassed.
"..So, what's your schedule? Maybe we have some of the same classes." I said, trying to make conversation. He handed me his schedule. He had first, fourth, and sixth period with me. "Half of your classes are mine." I said pointing to the classes we shared. He smiled.
"I look forward to seeing you then." he said smirking.
"Yeah, me too.... Well, nice meeting you Ronnie." I said smiling, before turning away.
"Wait, " He called, making me turn around, stopping in my tracks. "Maybe we should hang out sometime." I smirked. This always happened. After one conversation, boys are always trying to take me on a date or 'Get to know me'. I'm not gonna lie, I was kinda glad he did, because he was extremely attractive. I mean he was fresh. With True Religion Brand Jeans, Louis Vuitton shoes, a nike shirt that read 'Swag Don't Come Cheap', and gucci belt.... but we just met.
"Maybe later." I said, turning to walk where I previously was headed: To class.
