The smell of rain and wet dirt filled the air this day. Apparently as Harry had slept the teardrops of heaven fell, for when he stepped outside to go fetch the mail (which was probably mostly bills anyways) everything was still dripping wet and muddy, the sky was an expanse of smokey gray, and overall, the plants seemed overjoyed at this. It rained a bit in England, although it had been a good few weeks surprisingly. He had missed the rain.
Harry loved storms. There was something about their destructive wrath that fascinated him. He didn't like it when people died or got injured during them, that only made him sad, but he loved to watch them. He would always sit by his window with a good book and admire the beauty of nature. It was amazing, how so well planned out nature was on this planet, and so far, didn't seem to exist on any other. These things snagged his attention very well.
On this particular morning, he had noticed, Molly hadn't tried to bolt outside. This was a little odd to him, since she loved to play outside and chase the chipmunks and rabbits. He waved it off though. The lazy little kitten probably fell asleep somewhere and would turn up sooner than later. Walking back inside, he shrugged off his jacket and hung it up on the coatrack he kept by the door. As he looked through the mail he had gotten, he realized that it was indeed mostly all bills. He nearly died when he saw the price on his electric bill.
The world is so expensive these days, he thought quietly to himself with the disapproving shake of his head. He slapped them down onto the countertop as he headed into the kitchen. He decided to make himself breakfast and some coffee. However, his plans were quickly discarded when he discovered something slightly...troubling, was that the word? On his kitchen floor. Little Molly laid there, rubber bands binding together her front and back paws. When she saw Harry, she looked up at him pitifully and let out a small, desperate mew. Harry fell onto his knees in front of his cat, and began to undo the tightly wrapped rubber bands around her legs. "It's a wonder you manage to do these things to yourself Molly." He tsked, until that is, he straightened up. "But of course, it isn't if someone else was in the house is it?" He took the four rubber bands (two rubber bands had been tightly wrapped in each pair of legs) and dropped them on the counter.
The first thing he did after was do an in-depth search of his house. However, he didn't find a single sign that anyone else had visited. Nothing seemed to be missing, besides of course some Lucky Charm-oh yes! In all of the "playing detective" he had been doing, he had almost forgotten that he intended to check the mouse trap early this morning so the mouse wouldn't be stuck in there for far too long. He decided he would do so after he checked the rest of his house and had something to eat.
After he had checked every room in the house, he discovered that the probabilities of someone else roaming around were slim to none. No one broke into a home, tied up their poor little cat, and left without taking something! Even if it were small. Then again, Harry didn't have much of anything valuable to steal. The value in his things were just the fact that they were his, which made them worth a lot to Harry, and sentimental value, from the things that had been given to him and meant a great deal. Like the big stuff monkey toy his mother got him after his surgery, or the jumbo sized stuff giraffe his grandparents got him just before they both died in a tragic car accident involving a semi-truck, ice, and a sleepy driver. He had those stored in a box somewhere, he hoped that if he ever got married and had children that he could give those toys to them.
He also found that there wasn't much left in the fridge of cabinets, and that he should have gone grocery shopping after getting himself a mouse trap. But after being stuck in the store like that, with a judgmental older woman staring at him from behind, he did not feel like going out anymore for the rest of his life really. He would be just fine staying instead his home, locked up away from the idiots that were hastily taking over. That is, if he wouldn't starve to death first. He ended up making a breakfast sandwich that he found in a little package instead the freezer.
