Chapter 1:

Violet's P.O.V:

"SHUT UP! You are all wrong! IM not the one doing it!" I yelled. "Oh sure, then who is it then Hm? Who's the one going over the fence?!" A boy demanded. I was about to speak but someone interrupted. "It was me..." I looked behind me as indigo walked out to stand beside me. His stubbly chin rose with dignity. The group of boys and girls that stood before us gasped. "Indi, how could you?" A girl asked. "I've only been going over to speak with some...'friends' in sector 2. Nothing more I promise." Indi confirmed them. A male was about to retort when there was a loud buzzer. "EVERY BOY AND GIRL OVER THE AGE OF 5 AND UNDER THE AGE OF 40 REPORT TO THE COURTYARD BY THE GATES FOR THE ANNUAL PICKING!" A speaker went off and within an instant everyone rushed to the north towards the gates. Indi and I didn't move. "Indigo, were you seeing Daz and Z again? You have to stop it. Your home is here in sector 1!" "I know Vi, but I love them...I...-sigh- im getting married to them, I had to see them!" I gasped. As I was about to speak Indi took my arm and ran towards the courtyard. "Come on! There isn't much time!"
One we were there Indi and I stood together starring up at the podium where the mayor of sector 1 stood with two jars in his arms. "Hello friends, aren't you as excited as I am? Hahaha!" Everyone was silent as they listened. "As your mayor I have the most important job, NAME PICKING!" He squealed. "Now then, ladies first~" he reaches into the pink hat in his time arm and pulled out a slip of paper starring down at it he only smirked. "Violet sapphire woods." My skin went white at chalk and I went stiff. Well I didn't exactly have a 'food' reputation with the mayor anyways, but still! Indigo nudged me and I slowly walked up to the podium and stoop there 3 feet from the mayor and he glanced back at me still smirking. "And for our male contributor~" he pulled out a slip from the blue jar in his left arm and starred down at it. "Ah what a surprise~! Indigo sapphire woods everybody!" Without hesitation Indigo can't walked up to the podium to stand beside me. "Indi, you ok?" I whispered to him.he didn't move or speak. "What a surprise my friends, the power couple of the sector together in the game~!" "If I may sir, we ARNT a couple...just FRIENDS." Indigo murmured and the mayor only gleamed at this. "Oh of course..." He said sarcastically. "We, better hop on the train before you're left behind" and with that guards shoved me and indigo onto the train right outside the gates and we went off to sector 2 to gather their unfortunate tributes.
