When The Tide Comes, Chapter 1

When Realization Comes

~

"Miss, we uhh, found out who you are." My doctor noted, handing me a tissue.

I was staring at the wall, complete silence filled me. Did I really want to know? My hands trembled and I tried to get a grip and grow a pair. I nodded my head and smiled weakly.

"Okay," I whispered.

"Your real name is Annalise Rogers, you live in a cozy home with your whole family, and, you have quite the family. They're all great people and you're great too." He said smiling widely at me.

He handed me papers of information and one with a picture of me. (I assumed it was me, of course,) I hadn't looked at myself since I had been here.

In this picture, my dirty blonde hair fell to my shoulders in natural waves, making my natural tan skin stand out. My hazel eyes were steadied on the person behind the camera, and I had a bright, genuine smile on my face. I was averagely built and was posing for the camera. I looked at the back and it said, 'Annalise Rogers. Ten days before the attack.'

I smiled. They found a good picture; maybe they can find my family. My heart warmed as I looked back to the man.

"My family?" I said hopefully.

"Yes, Ms. Rogers, we found them. We also know that you are twenty-three last fall." He said looking at his papers.

Twenty-three? So I was still young. Okay, I can deal with that. I looked out the hospital window past the whitened walls and saw outside. Birds were chirping, the sun was up, and bees pollinated the flowers. It was truly a beautiful day.

The nurse had unhooked all the machines and helped me up. Turns out, my family brought some of my clothes and things so I could get ready. I got dressed in a simple black tee and some denim capris. I slipped on black Nike flip flops, and called it good. I put my greasy hair into a sloppy bun.

I walked out of the room, fingering the ring they found in my stomach. It must have been important of me to hide it. Enough for me to swallow it. I slid it in my pocket, securing it. Once I was home, I would hide it better.

I walked up to the family and put a smile on my face. There was a tall, bulky man and a petite girl standing there smiling at me. The man kissed my cheek and I stumbled back. Something inside of me didn't welcome that kiss of his. He frowned.

"What's the matter baby?" He asked, still frowning.

"Uhh, who are you?" I asked skeptically.

"Oh, I-I'm your boyfriend." He said smiling.

I nodded, turning to the young woman. She hugged me and giggled.

"I'm so glad you're okay! Before you ask, I'm Diana, your best friend in the whole world!" She giggled stepping back.

Hmm, a boyfriend and a best friend. I smiled and hugged her back causing her to smile widely. The doctor said his goodbyes and we checked out.

The ride home was quiet. I couldn't help the racing thoughts going through my mind. I kept hearing this voice whisper to me quietly. I couldn't make out what she was saying, though.

My best friend, who I now know as Diana, handed me an old iPhone and rolled her eyes when mine bulged. I guess we were loaded. We had a nice car, iPhones, and designer things. I wonder what we all did for a living.

Suddenly, we stopped. I looked around at my surroundings to see a gigantic house. I was right, we are loaded. We got out of the car and walking into the house was a nightmare.

"Luna, so glad to have you back."

"Luna, I'm so happy you're okay."

"Luna, Luna, Luna."

All I heard was Luna. What's a Luna?

The world was spinning and I grabbed ahold of the wall, gasping for air. I needed space! I need to breathe! Can't they all see I'm about to fall over? I screamed at the top of my lungs, raging.

"Shut up!" I yelled, darkly.

I even scared myself.

"Guys, give her some space. She just got out of a coma."

People scurried off and I held myself together. "What's a Luna?" I asked out of breath. "They kept calling me that."

"Uhh, we'll talk about that later."

Two days.

Two days since I arrived 'home.' I didn't feel at home at all. Everywhere I went I felt like I didn't belong. I ran to my room and I finally got to hide the ring. I found a floorboard and opened it. I saw a brown book stashed there and a few necklaces. What?

I put the ring near the necklaces and picked up the book. I opened the first page and started reading.

(DIARY.)

'Dear diary,

Today I was taken from my home. They took me away from, Darren, my mate. My werewolf side was sad, but she told me to stay strong; that everything would work out. I told her that she was my rock and that we were best friends until the end.

Darren told me that he'd find a way to see me. He said even though they were pretending I was werewolf queen, I would always be his Luna.

He said the real queen was locked up somewhere and all I had to do was find her. I left clues in my floorboard. Enough for now. Lanny is coming upstairs.'

I heard Lanny, the supposed boyfriend, and slammed the book shut. I tossed it in the floor, (how weird did that sound,) and closed it shut. I went to the bathroom and forced myself to pee. I flushed and washed my hands. I definitely thought of the best covers.

I came out and Lanny was standing there, breathless.

"We need to talk."

"Okay..." I said walking toward him.

"I need you to stay here, in this room, for a long time. I'll have Timothy, my beta, bring you food."

I nodded in understanding as he left. I opened the floorboards back up and took out the diary.

'Dear diary,

The queen, I've found her. She told me to stay quiet and to listen in on their plans. She was really nice and I respected her bravery in this dire time. She was a wonderful woman.

Sadly, guards came and I had to run and hide. I left the clues in the headboard. My wolf told me to continue writing a diary because I'd need it in the future. Said, and I quote, "your human side is stubborn when in great danger. Write this to protect yourself."

Whatever that means.

I shrugged it off and decided to help out future me. Anyway, 2344 Nando Road is where the queen is. (NOT REAL ADRESS PEEPS.)

She said to visit soon. Goodbye now, I have to go.'

I wrote the address down and grabbed my coat. I'm going to see the queen.

I snuck into the queen's jail cell and saw her in the corner. I got down on one knee, "my queen," I said curtsying.

"I told you, you don't have to do that." She said.

"I-I'm sorry. I had fallen into a coma, I don't really know anything."

"Oh dear..."

"What?"

"It's starting," she said, panicking.

"What's starting."

"The monarchy. The powerful, powerful monarchy. Wars, lots and lots of wars! You have to protect yourself! Find your mate, quick!" She ushered me off.

Well that was helpful. Not.
