"There you go."

The salon chair squeaks as it turns around, and I take my hands off my eyes. I gasp when I see my reflection.

"You look so pretty!" Mom exclaims.

The hair stylist holds up a ponytail of the hair that she just chopped off my head.

"That's ten inches for ya." She hands the ponytail to my mom, who pinches it with two fingers.

"Let's get this sent out quick," she says to the stylist, and then turns to me. "I don't want Maddie to have to wait any longer."

I barely hear her because I'm too busy studying myself in the mirror. My hair isn't incredibly short, it's still an inch or two past my shoulders. I can't decide if I love it or hate it.

I spin the chair back around and take a deep breath.

It doesn't matter what I think about it. I did this for Maddie, not myself.

I plaster a smile on my face and stand up.

"Ready to go?" I ask my mom. She doesn't answer as she's too busy talking to the manager. I see the woman's face soften as she nods along and I immediately know what they are talking about.

"Fine." I grumble under my breath.

I walk outside to go wait in the car, but of course, to my luck, the car door is locked. I stand next it, arms crossed and foot tapping. Not going back in that salon.

But she's going to be a while. Mom can talk for ages, especially about Maddie.

I start trudging back to the salon. Might as well get the keys from her. But something catches the corner of my eye.

A music store.

Who knew? Amongst all the hair salons, boutiques, and make up stores, I didn't think there would be anything interesting around here.

I walk in and as soon as I do, I see the back of a tall, muscular, dark haired guy facing a wall of antique guitars. Is that.... No. It couldn't be. He's a football player, why would he be here?

Even though I'm very intrigued by the huge collection of guitars, there's no way I could walk over near that guy. What if it's him? So awkward. I cringe at the thought of talking to him. So I swiftly turn on my heel and walk out of the store.

-AUTHORS NOTE-
Sorry about not writing in forever! I've been busy lately and didn't think many people were reading the story, but I looked back a few days ago and it turns out a lot of you have! So here's another chapter. Who do you think the guy in the music store was, and why didn't Dani want to talk to him? Thanks for reading!
