I sit at the very top of the apple tree. Hidden from the world. I picked the furthest tree from the house so they wouldn't see me cry. I miss momma and papa. I miss Joseph. Joseph was my best friend. We did everything together, but now we're forced to go separate ways. He has to help his family with the farm and bakery and I'm here. I miss home so much. I wonder if I will ever return. "Mistress! Mistress!" I here Angeline yell. I jump of of the tree landing on my feet and start to walk back to the house. "There you are my lady. I was looking for you everywhere. Hurry on now, you'll be late for your dress fitting," and off I was. Going back to my new reality of dress fittings, manners, and strict classes. That's all I ever do now. I haven't talked to another kid my age in a long time. Let alone another person besides my house staff and new guardians. My aunt Petunia and uncle Cedric take care of me. They're very rich, unlike my parents. They make me call the Mrs. and Mr. Vermon. Such a strange last name. Mrs. Vermon runs her own companies and businesses. So she's always gone traveling or at work. Mr. Vermon is always in his office. I'm not aloud in there. I don't know what he does, but I know he makes a lot of money. "What happened to your dress mistress?"Angeline asks me looking down at my dress. I look down to see a huge rip. "I don't know. I guess I didn't notice," I say. I can't tell her about the apple tree. Then she'll know where to look for me. "Good thing today is your fitting day. Or else master Vermon would get very angry," We reach the room for my fitting. "I'll be out here waiting for you," Angeline says to me. I nod and walk in. Mr. Markson was standing there putting needles in my new dress, well I assumed it was my dress. He turns around and says, "Little lady! Your here. I'm glad you could make it. Now could you go into the changing ro-" "I know where to go by now," I say with a smile. I walk behind the curtain and slip of all of my clothes. My dress, under layer, and socks. My favorite socks. "I'm ready for the dress!" I tell through the curtain. He throws the dress over the curtain and I put it on. It was beautiful. It was better than my last one. I walk out and give a twirl for him. "Thoughts? Does it need changes?" He says to me with a smile. "No, not at all. It's perfect. As always," I say looking at myself in the mirror admiring my new dress. "Is it climbing up an apple tree worthy?" He says with a small smirk. "Ye- wait. How do you know about that?" I turn to look at him. "I see you run back there all the time when I'm working on your new dresses or something else," he says. "Did you tell anyone?" I say worriedly. "No little lady. I did not. I won't either. It's just between you and me," he smiles. Thank you Mr. Marks-" he cuts me off. "Call me John," he says. I smile and nod. "Why don't you head of? I knew you have other things to do," I start to walk, but then turn around and say, "Thank you. John," we both smile and I leave. "What are you smiling about mistress?"Angeline asks. "Oh nothing," I reply.
