Cameron-
Her comment stung.
I ruined her life.
It was true.
It was only then that I realized how terrifying and earth shattering this whole situation was for Parker.
Poor girl got dragged into this because we were drunk one night and loaned some family money.
Whenever Parker wasn't bitching about something, which was rare, she was a super kind, beautiful girl.
And that smile.
That smile that she barely showed was contagious.
I sighed as I unloaded the groceries, glad she could eat something other than salads. She was beginning to look gaunt.
"Hey." I said to Sam as I walked in.
"What happened with her?" He asked, following me to the kitchen where I began to put up the food.
"First day out was rough. Seeing people doing what they want. It didn't help that we met a fan that said that our band saved her life. Parker feels like her life is over." I explained.
"What's the food for?" He raised his eyebrow.
"She's vegan. That's why she hasn't been eating." I explained.
"It took us a week to notice that?" Sam looked distraught.
I nodded.
"We are horrible. Maybe we shouldn't have agreed to take care of her." He ruffled his hair.
"We just need to learn about her so something like that doesn't happen again. Sam she's miserable here." I sighed.
"I know Cam. But what the hell can we do? We can't just return her. She's not an object."
"We need to do something nice for her. Something that will open her up to us. Make her feel more at home here."
"Like what? We know nothing about the girl." He sighed, frustrated.
"Well go talk to her. Find out something." I suggested.
"Why can't you?" He asked me.
"Because she hates me, and seeing my face right now would do more harm than good." I bit my lip.
"Fine. But I have to bring some sort of peace offering." He chuckled.
"Spaghetti."
"What?" He looked at me confused.
"She was super excited when we bought spaghetti because it's her favorite food." I told him.
"Then let's get to work."
-----
Parker-I sat up in my room, playing some stupid game on the laptop.
What else was there to do?
My door opened and I glanced over to see Sam, a sympathetic smile on his face and a plate of spaghetti in his hand.
My favorite.
My mouth watered.
"Can we talk?" He asked.
"Depends." I bit my lip.
"On?" He raised his eyebrow.
"Who that plate of heavenly noodles is for."
"It's for you." He smiled, handing it to me.
"Then yes we can chat. Take a seat Samuel." I gestured to my bed. As I begin to dig into my pasta.
"Hungry?" He chuckled as I devoured my food.
"I've been eating salad for a week. This is a godsend." I smiled.
"Sorry we didn't ask about your diet earlier. We really suck." He chuckled.
"Yeah I know you do." I laughed.
"What do you miss most from home?" He asked suddenly.
"Everything." I bit my lip.
"Wow that's so specific." He rolled his eyes.
"Well you didn't ask for specifics." I laughed.
"Well now I am. What could we add here to make you feel more at home." He bit his lip.
"Forget it." I took another bite.
"Cmon, what do you miss most?" He asked again.
"Piano." I sighed.
"You play piano?" He looked surprised.
I nodded. "Have since I was young. It's the only thing that distracts me when I'm angry."
"That's really cool." He smiled.
"Thanks." I smiled. "I didn't play for anybody though. I don't know if I'm good or not." I bit my lip.
"I bet you are." He smiled.
"Why do you ask?" I bit my lip.
"Just curious. I mean we all should probably get to know each other, you're going to be here for a while."
"How long is a while?" I bit my lip.
"I don't know. I really don't know." He sighed.
"I wish someone knew so I could prepare." I sighed.
"You might as well try to settle in, be as happy as you can here." He sighed.
"Guess so." I bit my lip.
Sam stood up, stretching.
"Well I have to go make sure Cam doesn't burn the house down cooking his dinner." He laughed.
"He's something." I giggled.
"That he is." He chuckled as he slipped out the door.
"Sam?" I caught his attention as he walked out the door.
"Yeah?" He stopped, leaning in to look at me.
"Thanks. For the food I mean." I pointed at it. "You're my favorite of my new 'big brothers'" I said, putting big brothers in air quotations.
"Glad to know I'm your favorite." He winked. "But don't thank me, thank Cam. It was his idea." He said as he slipped away.
-----
Cameron-"Piano?" I stared at Sam, stunned.
"Yup. She's played since she was little."
"She still is little." I rolled my eyes.
"You know what I mean." He chuckled.
"So what kind should we get her? Did she make any specifications?" I raised my eyebrow.
He shook his head.
"Well then what were you thinking?" I asked.
"Put one of those keyboards in her room." He shrugged.
I shook my head.
"No way. I say, go big, or go home. Let's get her a grand piano, put it in the dining room that we never use."
"That's gonna take up the entire room!" Sam exclaimed.
"It gives us a chance to get rid of that ugly table that Ben got. You know you have wanted a reason to trash that thing for years. This is your chance." I smirked.
"Let's do it." Sam smiled.
I was happy to do something kind for Parker, after all this transition had been hell for her, and that hurt me to think about. There was a part of me that cared deeply for this girl and wanted to protect her, I didn't know why, because she hated me, but I just wanted to put a smile on that beautiful face.
