"Oh yes, the past can hurt. But from the way I see it, you can either run from it, or... learn from it."  - The Lion King
----------------------------------------After the Battle of Hogwarts took place, the wizarding world was joyful yet sorrowful. The fight against Voldemort was won but many wizards and witches were killed in the tragedy of war on both the 'good' and 'bad' sides. Harry Potter, The Weasleys, and Hermione had managed to survive and see the bright light at the end of the tunnel called victory.
Six months after the war and mourning of deceased loved ones, the Golden Trio was living at the Weasleys. One day Draco Malfoy (former deatheater accomplice) knocked on the door of the Burrow (At the time the whole Weasley clan was staying there) to talk to the residents that lived there. He had thought long and hard about what he was about to do and he wasn't about to turn around now no matter how nervous he was. When the door finally opened, Mrs. Weasley was standing there in her usual apron.

" Ma-- Draco. What are you doing here? Why are you here.." Mrs. Weasley continued to question him until he said,
"Mrs. Weasley, I came here to apologize. To everyone, including you." Draco said. He felt awkward. It was kind of hard to apologize to someone in a family you spent years making fun of, yet he knew that he should. He didn't want to end up like his father-in Azkaban.
Catching Draco off guard- Mrs. Weasley brought him into a bone-crushing hug.
"Oh thank you. Come in, come in ", She scrambled to find words.
Draco felt a difference as soon as he stepped into this house. He for once felt welcomed in a home- even if it wasn't his own. Also after one sentence someone  hugged him and had actually forgiven him- he just hoped that the others could possibly forget all those stupid years of Hogwarts with enough convincing.
When he entered the misshaped home, the red headed family and friends were sitting in the living room doing what they enjoyed until Draco walked in. Ron and Harry were playing Wizarding Chess and looked up with confusion on their faces. Hermione was reading her book when she did the same.
Ron abruptly knocking down the chess board simultaneously, practically screamed, "What the bloody hell are you doing in our house!"
Mrs. Weasley was slightly appalled by her son's behavior and language. "Calm down Ronald, Mr. Malfoy has something he would like to say to us." She said.
"Is that so?," questioned Mr. Weasley before he stopped fiddling with some muggle object and suddenly making himself known. "Well then, come on boy, say what you have to say."
"Well...uh," Malfoy stuttered trying to find the words he had recited over and over again in his head before he had the bravery to come over here.
He then found the courage that he had been aware of when he had first walked into the Burrow. "I'm here to apologize, my actions towards all of you were unprecedented and I truly did not mean any of it. I was young and I only tried to make my father proud back then. But now I realize I never want to be like my father. He is in Azkaban where he belongs and I should be there too, but I was given a second chance. With my second chance I want to change my old habits and I hope, put our past indifferences aside. I hope all of you can forgive me. I'm not trying to become best friends, but if you were to see me on the street you wouldn't immediately draw your wand or yell at me.I hope you all can find it in your heart to forgive me even though I do not deserve it. "
Malfoy stood there for what seemed like an eternity hoping for someone to speak.
"In our early years at Hogwarts I knew you didn't truly mean it whenever you said those awful things to us, but I'm not gonna say I wasn't hurt. I can't fully forgive you now because wounds need time to heal, but at least you took the time to apologize and that isn't easy for some.", Hermione said.
Then Harry finally had spoken, "I agree with Hermione. Wounds need time heal, but for me that might be longer then most. You helped the person that murdered my parents and that can't easily be forgiven. But I know I can try to not hex you into oblivion whenever I see you again"
Then Harry did the most unexpected thing and shook Malfoy's hand as a sign of a new start for them. Then Arthur Weasley stood up and shook his hand also. Ron stood there with his face still red with anger (some would say the tint of his face matched the hue of his hair). Then Ron finally spoke up and said," I really don't like you Malfoy, I really don't, but if you can be polite then maybe I can manage to not hex that stupid blonde hair off you the second I see it."
Draco was relieved after hearing everyone partially accept his apology. It would've been awkward after that if it wasn't for the twins coming down stairs, haven already been apologized to by him at their shop in Diagon Alley, with their witty and funny remarks and personalities.
"Ah, there's the ferret boy," said Fred.
"Apologized to the fam yet," said George.
"Um yes actually I have," Draco stated awkwardly.
"Good, now we can come down to eat," said Fred.
"Oh I wouldn't want to intrude, and I must get home to my mother so she can have company for dinner," Malfoy said, trying to leave before Mrs. Weasley asked him to stay. He then made it out the door, and disapparated back home for a quiet meal with his beloved mother, Narcissa Malfoy.

-----------------
After the turmoil was settled between Draco Malfoy and his past enemies, everyone moved on in their life. Even though they said if they say Malfoy on the street they wouldn't flat out hex him, they never bumped into him.
Where They are Now
Draco Malfoy started working at the new and improved Daily Prophet. Harry Potter became an Auror with Ron Weasley, and due to their contribution to the war they quickly became the top Aurors. Hermione Granger became the head healer at St. Mungos after studying for a year for a healer's medical degree.
Harry started dating Ginny after a long time of crushes and never admitting their feelings for each other. They started dating 3 months after the war and have been together ever since.
Ron has been pretty much single but goes on failed dates every now and then. Ever since his and Hermione's kiss during the battle, he never really had a relationship because Ron says he's too busy for a girlfriend and occupies his time with work.
Hermione had a stable relationship, with a fellow student named John, when she was in medical school but broke it off because she wanted more time to study and work hard for her career.
Draco, still not having the best reputation in the public eye, has been single ever since the war. He works very hard at The Prophet because he knows if he hadn't been given this job no one else would've taken him. So he sees no use in dating when he's trying to give 100% to his job.
