All I could see was darkness..In the far distance I heard a womans cry, a familiar voice. my left side was practically crying out with pain; was I chained to a bed? I opened my eyes slowly but the sudden white light still surprised me, I squinted my eyes almost closing them completely; where is that sound coming from? That woman silently crying, I can even hear her breathing! she must be near me. I tried to open my eyes again even slower and when I did what I realized I was in hospital room. I quietly turn to my left to see that my arm had several needles suck in it. There was also a machine near me, the typical hospital machine that show your heartbeat. I always saw those kinds of machines in movies it never in real life. I took a deep breath and looked over to my right. A young woman was crying with her head on the hospital bed, she had messy hair that was around shoulder length, it was cut unevenly and had a beautiful brown tone to it. I felt her tears soaking the bed sheet near my right arm, at that moment I wanted to tell her to stop crying but my throat felt like it was made of sandpaper, what happened to me? I lifted my right arm slowing, fighting the pain that was screaming in my side, and touched her hair. She jumped up yet still remained sitting on her white plastic chair, I could see her beautiful big brown eyes staring at me with slight terror which turned into pure happiness in less then a second. She had thin lips and her make up was totally smudged. The traces of her black eyeliner gave her the look of an adorable panda and her foundation remained vivid only on the far sides of her cheeks and forehead. Who was she and why was she crying on my hospital bed? Most importantly, what happened to my side? The mysterious girl laughed and you could tell her laugh was filled with great relief.
"Oh god.." She mumbled.
"I though you were going to die, Charlie, oh god don't ever scare me like-" her sentence was interrupted by another river of tears, she was practically choking on them. I tried to tell her not to cry, to scream out and say I'm fine it's okay but words weren't coming out of my mouth like there was an invisible barrier between my throat and my mouth that was made out of spikes. I held out my hand and when she noticed it she immediately latched on to it, I had a feeling she would never let it go. She took several deep breaths and said in a weak, almost silent voice.
"Don't ever scare me like that okay?"
She looked at me with her, red and filled with tears, eyes. I managed to squeeze out two words without chocking.
"I promise" I said.
She smiled the biggest smile she could when out conversation was interrupted by a man with white hair who walked into the room through the white metallic door.
"So, you are now awake mrs. Evanston?"
He came closer to my bed and all I could do was nod, yes, my name is Charlie Evanston, I always hated that typical name.
"Mrs. Clark over here stayed by your side for two whole days, she never left you alone! It was even different to check how you were doing without stumbling onto her!" His words were followed by a loud laughter, the girl chuckled as well whilst also wiping the remaining tears off her face. That girl... was Dodie Clark, I met her yesterday didn't i?
