I was inspired to write this because of "The son of vesta" it's a great book and to be honest, I don't remember where I read it at but if you wrote that book, I'm not trying to steal it. Anyways enjoy the book.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~I've never desired anything like how many gods do. I don't desire sex. I don't desire a husband. I've surely never desired power. But like many gods, I do desire a child. One that was loyal to a fault. A child that would do anything for his friends and family, even if they've wronged him. One that has a heart to forgive.
However, I swore to be a maiden goddess to stop a war between my brothers and I have no desire to go against styx. I may be a goddess but to go against the goddess of oaths would be suicide.
I poked at the heart keeping it alight. Thoughts swirled in my mind but it usely ended up stopping on having a child. I could try to make him out of the hearth?
As I thought about having a child, I didn't see the bright flash of light in the throne room. "Hestia, are you okay? You look troubled." A familiar niece asked.
I look up "I'm fine Artemis, thanks for asking" I replied as I poked the hearth again. Artemis frowned "No your not. I know when something is bothering."
I sighed "Artemis, have you ever desired a child?"
"Well I have my hunters and they are basically my daughters, so not really" Artemis replied as she sat across from me. "Why do you ask?"
"Well I desire a child" I answered back as I looked into Artemis silver eyes which quickly went to the size of dinner plates.
Artemis mouth moved a couple of times as if she were trying to say something but no sounds ever came out. "Surprised?" I asked as I hugged my 8 year old legs.
Artemis nodded "very much so, why do you desire a...child?"
Well so I can actually have a real family, not one that bickers like spoiled children I thought. "Well there are many reasons, the point being is that I want a child" Artemis didn't look like she was to happy with the answer but she didn't push further.
"Just go ask styx" Artemis suggested after a period of silence and crackling of the hearth.
I looked at Artemis curiously "what do you mean?"
"Go ask her if you can have a child. Surely you be able to strike a deal with her or heck, styx must just let your oath go long enough for you to have a child" Artemis replied with a look that looked like she struck gold.
I nodded "That's not a bad idea niece...but are you okay with it? I mean you are the goddess of virgins." Artemis then looked thoughtful about before replying.
"Your child will surely be a good one, even if it turns out to be a boy. So I'm not that worried about it but it is saddening to see another maiden go..." I smiled before walking to my niece and pulling her into a eight year old bear hug. I stepped back before reappearing into the banks of the styx. Normally you would need another gods permission, in this case Hades, to enter their domain but hades never seemed to care if I went into his domain even if I didn't ask. But back to my mission of haveing a kid.
"Styx, I need to talk to you" I said out loud, appearing like I was talking to myself. After awhile, the water started to swirl. Slowly it formed a women with untamed raven black hair, onyx black eyes, pale skin and a good looking body. "Yes Hestia?"
"I have a favor to ask"
Styx looked at my curiously "what is this favor you wish to ask me?"
"Will you allow me to have a single child?" I begged. Styx looked at me, shocked. It's not every day you hear from the oldest maiden daughter of kronos and rhea, to allow you to have a child. But then it looked like a thought passed her mind because styx shocked face turned into a mischievous grin.
"Okay, I will allow you to have a child but this child will be staying with me when it's born." Styx said with grinning.
I was happy at thought of haveing a child but the child won't be able to live with me. "However, I will allow you to see your child. It would be wrong of me to keep you from your son" happiness flowed through my veins just at the thought of being a mother. As I thought of all of the good things me and my child will do, styx pulled out a vile from the river and a stray dagger. Styx cut her palm making sure not a single drop of essence was waisted. The vile got half way filled up with her essence before styx handed to me "we will both be his parents. Just drop some of your essence into the vile and drink it."
I did as she told and the mixture of swirled from a dark black to a fiery red. Then I raised it to my lips before drinking it. Almost immediately I felt a new life in my womb.
