Ethan
"Hey, dude," Carter whispered, elbowing me in the stomach as we stood by our lockers before first period started on the first day of junior year, "did you hear, we have some super hot new girl in our class. No-one even knows her name yet but I heard from John on the swim team that she's totally bangable, I mean, like, really smokin'." I rolled my eyes. I wish he would talk, just for once, about something other that sex, booze or football.
"Mm-hmm", I replied. "I wonder if she'd go for me? What am I sayng, of course she would" he announced, puffing out his chest in a way I assume he thought was impressive. Really he just looked like he was holding in a particularly large breath. "Mm-hmm" I replied again. That was the good thing about Carter, he never seemed to care when I wasn't paying attention to whatever garbage was coming out of his mouth. "Just promise me, Eth, that you'll let me have her, K?"
I hate it when people call me Eth.
"Sure thing dude, remember I've got Caroline." "Oh, yeah. You and the hottest girl in school who just happens to be head cheerleader. Man, are you lucky, dude." He complained, good-heartedly. "Yup, I'm the luckiest guy on earth", I muttered, the sarcasm practically dripping off my tone. "Dude, I'm serious. You're filthy rich, good-looking, football captain even though you're only a junior and dating the head cheerleader. You're the most popular guy in the junior class, maybe the whole school. You really should appreciate...." he trailed of, starting at something down the hallway, "oh, look, there she is. Man, she is even hotter then John said. I mean, just look at her dude." And I did.
She was the most glorious thing I'd ever seen. Her legs went on forever and where a gorgeous creamy-gold colour, the muscles obvious in her short, short dress and what looked to be six inch high, blood red stiletto heels. Her dress was really more of a long blouse. It was black and reached to her upper-mid-thigh, it's top few buttons open revealing more than impressive- maybe even mouth-watering- cleavage and just the edge of the cups of a lacy, blood red bra. Her sleeves were rolled up above the elbow and she was carrying a blood red purse, probably designer. At her waist was a wide blood red belt that perfectly complemented the gentle flair of her hips. Her face was partially obstructed because she was wearing huge, black, designer sunglasses, though her lips were very full, a perfect bow and a gorgeous deep pink colour that looked almost natural. Her whole appearance was breathtaking, though it was her hair that really caught your eye. Her hair was long, reaching down to her elbows, thick and the perfect balance between curls and waves. It shone in a way that couldn't be replicated, but wasn't oily. And the colour, oh the colour. It was a glorious reddish colour with tones of bright ruby red, sunset orange, gleaming gold and every shade in between, and on the left side of her head was a chunky streak of hair dyed a dark purple with just a hint of sapphire blue which should have clashed, but didn't, in the same way that the red of her accessories should have clashed with her hair, but didn't. It was almost as if none of her ensemble clashed because she just willed it not to.
She looks so familiar, where have I seen her before?
Just then I noticed Caroline and her two minions Jess and Trixie walking over to the new girl. The look on Caroline's face was enough to tell me the new girl was in for a major smack-down. Caroline was wearing her signature savage smile. I wondered if the new girl would cry.
"Hi", Caroline smirked and I could tell from her tone that she was on the prowl. The new girl's appearance had obviously made her feel threatened. "My name is Caroline". She looked down her nose at the new girl, smirked and held out one hand for the new girl to shake. "How wonderful!" The new girl exclaimed, fake enthusiasm obvious in her tone of voice, "now let me guess: you're the Queen Bee here and you're worried about me encroaching on your territory. Well no need to worry, sweetheart, the whole 'high school' thing bores me". It was amazing. The new girl was holding her own, she was even dominating the confrontation.
I have never heard anyone talk to Caroline with so much condescension. And she wasn't done yet. "You see, hun, for me, high school is just doing my time before bigger and better things but I know for some people this is the biggest and best they're ever gonna get, and that's why I'm going to reassure you, I don't care about Homecoming, I won't be running for Prom Queen so there's really no need for you to worry. Why don't we both just steer clear of each other. Kay, sugar?"
Throughout this whole speech, Caroline's face was getting redder and redder, her jaw was clenching and her fists were getting so tight her knuckles were completely white. She looked so furious I couldn't believe the new girl wasn't cowering where she stood. I thought it was time for me to step in, as Caroline looked about three seconds away from punching the new girl right in the face. So, I walked up behind Caroline and put my hand on the small of her back. "Everything okay here ladies?" I asked. "Oh let me guess," stated the new girl, "you're the stereotypical top jock boyfriend, right? How cute." She smirked again. By this point, Caroline was so fuming she actually growled. "Ethan, baby. Hold my purse while I kick this bitch's as from here to Sunday" Caroline threatened. For some reason, the new girl didn't seem to have heard what Caroline had said and, I couldn't be sure because of her huge sunglasses, but it seemed like she was starting straight at me. "I'm sorry, I didn't quite catch your name" she said, her voice sounded strained, almost hurt. "My name's Ethan," I said, completely confused, "Ethan Thompson." The new girl gasps and the next thing I know, I hear a sharp sound, my cheek hurts like hell and everyone is starting open-mouthed at the new girl. I put a hand on my cheek, slowly realising that she slapped me and as the shock wears off, I start to fill with anger. "What the hell was that for?" I yelled. The new girl, seeming to regain her composure, smiles wanly and shrugs "I promised myself I would slap you the next time I saw you." It takes a second for that to sink in and by the time it does, Caroline has already beaten me to the punch. "You two know each other? Oh my god," she screeches, "Ethan Thompson, did you sleep with her?" "God, no" the new girl replies, at the same time as I say "no babe, I don't even know her." The new girl looks at me and says "forgotten me, have you?" Her voice is strained, hurt even, and I have no idea why. "Well let me jog your memory." She slowly takes of her sunglasses, shaking out her hair, then looked me straight in the eye. Her eyes were gorgeous. Huge, fringed with long, thick, dark lashes and a gorgeous dark purpley-blue colour, the same as the streak in her hair. The second I looked into her eyes, it hit me and I felt my face pale and I whispered "Oh, God. Saff...."Okay, so this is my first story and I didn't really edit it so please be gentle!
