It was my last day at Exeter High School. I had a good Sophomore year. Having Dani as a best friend just made the whole year even better.
My first class on the last day was math. At least I could get it over with fast. It went by pretty fast because all we really had to do was pass stuff like papers and textbooks back. Next was science and then lunch. Science was the same as math, just passing things back to our teachers. After that was lunch and I had a pretty good lunch. I packed a sandwich, a yogurt, some chips, and a water. I sat by Dani just about every day but she never got up early enough to make her own lunch so she just got what the school offered.
When our uninteresting lunch was finally over, we were both headed to history. Sadly, there was a little bit of work, but it was partner work, so I could be with Dani.
As Dani and I started working on our small packet, we talked about the summer. "So I started planning out some times we could hang out this summer, like going zip-lining, going to the movies, even just having sleep-" Dani was saying right as I cut her off. "Dani, those sound like so much fun, but there's something I need to tell you... I'm moving to Florida" I said. It went silent for a few seconds but it felt like forever. "Believe me, Dani, I don't want to move. I want to hang out with you during summer and all that but I have to go. I'm so sorry I didn't tell you. I mean I wanted to, I just didn't want to believe it had to happen." "No, it's fine.." Dani said depressingly.
I knew I should've told her.. I knew she would get upset. I wish she could just move in with me and we could have sleepovers and parties and a bunch of other fun things. But I knew we couldn't. It wouldn't work that way. Eventually I'd find new friends and it would all work out.
After I got out of school I finished up packing because we were leaving the next day at around 7:30am. I got together a few sets of clothes, some of my makeup that wasn't packed up, my brush, toothbrush, and shoes. Then we were out the door. We drove all the way from Georgia, to our new house in Florida, which was right on the beach.
When we got there, I automatically wanted to go run and jump into the beach. It was so calm and nice and we had a walkway from our house straight to the nice beautiful waters. I couldn't wait to meet new friends and hang out at the ocean all the time, although they're probably used to it by now.
My parents and I started unpacking. The first box I opened was a scrapbooking box with multiple pictures of me, my family, and Dani.
The next box was something for my room so I started looking through it. Just some pillows and blankets for my bed that wasn't here yet. All we had until we got our beds were 2 blow-up mattresses. My room was really plain but I got an amazing view of the beach and the walkway down to it.
The next day more stuff came to the house. I found some boxes with my name written on it so I brought them to my room to see what was inside of them. In one box I found my comforter and pillows but I didn't have my bed yet so it didn't help much. In another box, I found a bunch of notes between Dani and I when we were in 3rd and 4th grade. We talked about wishing we were sisters so we could have sleepovers every night, there were also the weird notes about liking some kid named Tyler. I hadn't seen him since around the time I wrote the note but he was one of those guys that everyone just loved.
The moving truck with my bed and more furniture got to the new house around 4:30. I couldn't wait to be able to sleep in a real bed again. The blow up mattresses were so uncomfortable. We started getting stuff in our living rooms and bedrooms now that we had just about everything we needed when it came to furniture. After we got everything put in the right spot, we ate, and looked through a few more boxes, it was about 7:00 and I was going to head down to the beach and just relax.
