I yawned before I rubbed my eyes. It is late but we still have to practice. We have a big battle of the street competition coming up. It's the biggest one of the year. To be able to compete in it is a dream. Every teenager like me grows up for this moment.

I stepped back onto the dance floor. I had called a 5 minute break. I love being captain. It's usually my choreography that we do.

"Okay, now 5, 6, 7, 8!" I shouted before the speakers blared out rap music.

My crew joined in with me. We moved in sync with the music. Popping and breaking from left to right. We did tricks and stunts while others twerked. As soon as the music stopped we froze in our poses.

"Woo hoo!" Jay said. "We nailed it!" he started crumping the air. I laughed as all best friends would.

"This routine is da bomb!" Shawn said as he walked over to me. "And of course, when it's created by my girl Xianna." he whispered in my ear while hugging me.

We have been going out for 3 months now and everything's great. He's supa supportive.

He pulled back and went to join his friends. His blonde hair swayed in the wind of the fans circling the studio. He was shirtless, no doubt, so his abbs glistened in the light. But he did have black cargo pants on.

I smiled before I grabbed my dance bag and walked to the door. "Same time tommorow guys. We have t'a practice, practice, practice. This ain't one of those home comps. This is the real deal here. If any of us wannabes want to get to the top like the pros. Show em' what you got on Saturday!" I cheered.

The crew cheered with me as they began walking to the door.

I began to walk home. Usually, Shawn would but he's going out with friends.

It was dark and lonely. I could almost make out figures lurking in the shadows, staring at me, watching my every move. I was used to it. I've grown up in this sort of life. It takes one to know one.

I was just about to turn onto my street when two women appeared in front of me.

"Where do you think you're going in the middle of the night?" A tall slim figure asked. Actually, its more like demanded.

"I'm going home. Is there a problem here?" I stated firmly.

"I dont like this one. What should we do with her?" A muscular figure said, grinning slightly.

"Go ahead." said the other.

The muscular one punched me hard in the face. The slim figure stood by as blood started running down my nose. She went to punch me again but I dodged it, putting my bag on the ground.

She swung again and struck my arm. I winced and punched backed, smacking her in the face. She kicked me, sending me flying into the wall.

Moaning, I picked myself up and went to fight her again but someone held me back.

"Let me go!" I screamed, trying to wriggle myself free.

"No. I can't."

I heard Jay's voice. I instantly relaxed before Shawn let me go.

"Go back to where you came from!" Jay shouted at the two women before he picked me up and carried me to my house.
