Song - Hit boy by Duki
"Shut the hell up!" roared Tino.
His eyes nearly bulging out of his sockets as he glared at everyone in the room.
The bustling hall quickly died down.
The room echoed with his laboured breathing, the vein at his temple bulging as he ground his teeth.
Every month the high rollers and elite members of Toronto's mafia ring would meet to discuss a means forward of continuing product dispatches through the harbour. In other words, drug shipments to South West Ontario.
Tino was one of the members of the council named the Los Sietes Reyes. He was one of the seven most influential drug lords that currently sat at the head of the table conducting the meeting.
"Let's get settled mis hermanos, there's a lot to discuss on the agenda."
"As you all know we've lost a very important asset to the team, with the federal election that recently took place we have lost control over the harbour."
"This means that we need to strike a deal with the liberal government to maintain our normal covert operations routes."
The hall suddenly erupted with a cacophony of disapproval.
"Silencio!" shouted Tino
The idea of teaming with a liberal government to continue illegal exploitations seemed absurd and nearly impossible. Not to mention the possibility of being exposed at a national level. With everyone expressing their concerns and bereavements, the usual unison of the meetings had been lost.
Gregory raised his hand to usher the room quiet. His knuckle bore the blood-red ruby symbolic of the Sangre de Jose gang.
"We don't have time to bicker. Jamal, Maeve and Mikael stand up."
The three of us stood up and made our way to the front of the room to stand in front of the council. My legs felt heavy with each step. This was the first time my presence had ever been acknowledged during a meeting.
"You three will be in charge of handling the scheduled shipment at the port. Make sure that the shipment that arrives tonight is dealt with. Business will continue to run as per usual. There's new security detail at the port so be careful. After tomorrow we'll have settled our little tiff with the local authorities and be back in their good graces. "
