As soon as I stepped off the bus I was thinking about him. He had the most mesmerising green eyes that I could have stared into all day. And his hair! It was definitely better than mine and I promised myself if i ever saw him again, I would ask him what conditioner he used.
Oh my God. Pull yourself together Avery. You will not crush on some random guy on a bus. And you will definitely not think about his hair. Look at me. I sound like a crazy woman who owns 90 cats and talks to herself. Meh.
I put my key in the lock and twisted it round, pushing the door open to a pristine clean house. Another thing my mother does to avoid contact with me is clean. She cleans the whole damn house top to bottom every week, even though it's only me and her living there. My dad left before I was born and that's about all I know of him. My mum doesn't speak about it so I don't either. It's not like I'd want to get in touch with him now anyway. What a douchebag.
I throw my bag down on the floor, making a mental note to pick it up before my mum gets home, and slouch down onto the couch. I flicked on the tv and decided to watch the never-ending re runs of The Simpsons.
...
I woke to the sound of the door slam and figured my mum was home. I checked my phone for the time and it read 21:12. What? She's really serious about this working late thing.
I sauntered into the kitchen to see her rest a bag of KFC on the counter. I hadn't realised I didn't have dinner yet.
"Wow you bought KFC?!"
"Yep. It's to make up for this whole job situation. You see Avery, money's tight at the moment and I've been offered a new job. It's longer hours and it pays really well but I wont be able to take you to school and back. Your going to have to get the bus from now on. I'm sorry."
The bus. Maybe that boy gets on the bus every day.
"The bus? Ok, that's fine I guess."
My mum smiled and walked off leaving me day dreaming about some boy on a bus. I'm definitely going mad.
