Bleeding Stars/Emmett Cullen (Sequel to Whispering Dusk)

Chapter Eleven

     Charlie grounded Bella for the rest of her life, but he was happy that I had been with her to keep her safe. The next evening, I stood be Emmett at the Cullen's where they were all gathered. My family was down the road at our house.

      They weren't in on the vote because they weren't part of the Cullen family. But technically, I was, so I counted as a vote. We all stood downstairs when Bella reached the bottom of the staircase with Edward right behind her.

      "You all know what I want. So, I think you should vote on it," she stated awkwardly. Smooth, Bells.

       "Well, I already think if you as my sister, so, yes." Alice laughed and hugged Bella before stepping back to Jasper.

        "Yes. It will be nice not to want to...kill you all the time," Jasper drawled, smirking and his hands clasped behind his back.

       "Being a vampire isn't a life I would have chosen for myself. I wish someone had been there to vote 'No' for me. So, it's a no," Rosalie said quietly. She stayed standing on my right side while Emmett stood on my left.

     "Hell yeah. You're already family," Emmett said loudly, which made us all laugh. Carlisle approached Bella, smiling slightly. Edward looked as if he had been betrayed.

      "Edward, you have chosen not to live without her, so I have no choice. I won't lose my son." He squeezed Bella's shoulder and stepped back.

      Esme just nodded her head. Then everyone turned to look at me and I stroked my stomach, which was getting bigger every day. I walked over to Bella and out my hands on her shoulders, smiling brightly at her.

       "You're my best friend. I've been with you through a lot the past year or so and I won't ever lose you. So I vote yes. And I count as two people, if everyone hasn't forgotten," I said as I cradled my belly.

       They laughed and Edward looked exasperated. I was going to ride with them as Edward brought her home, but Alice said that there was a chance that Jake would be there and I didn't want the wolves to know about my pregnancy yet.

     But then Edward asked Bella to marry him and he had pulled out his mother's ring.

      The days passed and turned into weeks. There was still so sign of Victoria and I decided to leave school; there was no way I could hide this belly that had already grown to almost full term size. It had been a month since the vote at the Cullen house.

      I was already waddling around. Carlisle suspected it would be any day now... I was nervous while Emmett and our families couldn't be more ecstatic. I stayed inside and sent Alice and Esme to do the clothes shopping for my baby.

      I lay in bed one evening while Emmett, Edward, and Carlisle were out hunting. Rose had stayed with me while Esme and Alice were out. Rosalie sat next to me on the bed, smiling and stroking my stomach. Suddenly, her smile brightened and she gasped.

      "Aubrey, feel! It kicked!" she exclaimed. I put my hand over hers and felt it; the strong kick of my baby. But I had never felt it kick before. Then I got a sickness in my stomach and my lower abdomen hurt badly. I felt a ripping pain and I screamed.

      "Aubrey, what is it?!" Rosalie yelled, standing up quickly and holding my arm.

      "Rosalie, the baby's coming! Ahh, shit! Call Carlisle! Call Emmett!" I screamed frantically and I pulled my arm from her grasp and scrambled toward the bedroom that had been set up for the birth.

      A door opened and slammed shut within seconds downstairs and I knew it was my family. Oh, thank God! I sat on the bed as my mom ran into the room. I could hear the others running toward us and Rosalie on the phone with someone.

      "Aubrey, you feel pain?" Nina asked, surprised and furrowing her eyebrows. I nodded and ground my teeth together. Everyone rushed in, including Rosalie, Emmett, and Carlisle.

      "Alright, she's going into labor. I need everyone to clear the room. Emmett and Nina, you can stay and help me out. Aubrey, lay back and try to be comfortable. I think the baby is trying to bite his way out," Carlisle said urgently.

      I lay my head against the pillow and closed my eyes. Emmett squeezed my hand and pressed a kiss to my forehead. And suddenly, everything was okay and the pain stopped. I opened my eyes and Carlisle lifted his head from between my knees.

      His eyes were wide. Nina stood by him, a surprised but happy smile on her face. Carlisle stood and walked slowly toward me.

      "It's a boy," he whispered, handing the bundle of white blankets to me. I cradled him in my arms and looked down into his face and I swear I could see an angel.

      He was perfect in every way. He had a head full of midnight colored hair and my tanned skin. His eyes were red and they just stared up into mine. It was like someone falling in love for the first time, at first sight.

      A bond was forming between this mother and child and it was growing stronger by the second.

     "He's absolutely perfect," I whispered and I swept my hand across his forehead and his lips crept up into a smile. Then he looked at Emmett and smiled wider.

      "What shall you name him?" Nina asked from beside me. I looked at Emmett and he nodded for me to choose.

     "Ezra Levi," I answered matter-of-factly. We wouldn't need his last name. At the sound of my voice, Ezra's gaze jerked back to my face and he giggled.
