The heavy rain drenched his overcoat but that didn't seem to have any effect on him. He kept walking on the gravel pavement passing by the other insignificant figures that either ran past him to avoid the heavy downpour or just walked by in their rain protective gear. Just then a yellow cab with most of its body paint almost removed stopped near the pavement two steps ahead of him. A head then peeked out of the window and then was followed by a waving hand signalling him. He knew it was for him and he wasted no time and got in. "What a day, huh?" said the man "Better than winter at least". The latter replied. "That's what you always say, Fischer". Said the man " Well then John I maybe a man of few opinions". Said Fischer. "Here have a smoke". Offered John, "No thanks John I already had one". "You look awfully tired Fischer are you OK". "Honestly I don't know how long ago I had a good night's sleep". Replied Fischer with a sigh. "I really wish we could reach our destination though". Said Fischer. "Well can't expect a smooth traffic on such a rainy day". Replied John. "That will be 5$ sir". Said the taxi driver. "What! We reached, but how so quickly!" Exclaimed John. "Must be an odd coincidence". Replied Fischer. Walking up the marble steps, Fischer could not remember on how he actually came to own his company the only thing in his mind remained that his father had left him and had gone away and the next day he was sitting on the chair of the founder of a multi billion dollar company. As he entered through the glass double doors he was greeted with the same handshakes and good mornings. His life was nice, he had no intentions of getting married and had planned on giving away the company after his death to his faithful friend John, whom he had an immeasurable amount of trust and reliability. But from today one event was going change his very idea of existence in his perfect little world.

10th floor read the lift when Fischer walked out of it. He gradually made his way through the crowd of his busy employees. He had a large personal office. It had a glass window large enough to fit a premature elephant its wooden flooring was always well polished and his table made of oak wood was like a dinner table big enough to feed eight people. Basically his office showed flamboyance. He sat on his chair opened his laptop and began working continuously shifting from power point presentations to excel sheets. That time it read 9:00 am. Around 2 pm when everyone went for lunch Fischer would have his assistant Marie get him lunch from a cafe across the street. After everyone had started entering after the break suddenly a loud shout was heard. Initially it was ignored but then a few seconds later two more even louder shouts were heard followed by a sound of what appeared to be a gun shot by then every employee was looking through the window staring down at the street where what appeared to be a mob with their guns firing gradually making for the same building they were situated in. Alarmed, he immediately called his security to start securing the floor but in vein, his face turned pale when he saw an officer fall on the ground with a bullet whole right through the center of his head. The body fell with a dull thud lying there lifeless only to soak the carpet with its blood which now covered most of the flooring along with a few other dead guards lying there. Then a group of 4 men appeared 2 from the corridor towards the elevator and two from the back door towards the fire exit. Fischer could hear his heart thumping like a drum. But he was already paralyzed with fear. One of the men approached him with confidence but with a hint of caution with every step. He put the gun to Fischer's forehead and asked him to kneel down. To this Fischer refused. "Why would I say that" he thought "He's got a gun, I don't it's not that I can just teleport to safety". At that exact moment the world turned, it spun and spun faster with each turn Fischer felt sick maybe he was getting sick with nervousness. The spinning got more and more furious after sometime everything in sight went blur the even the sounds started going deaf. Suddenly everything was gone.

The office, the armed men, the screaming, the shouting all gone what remained was deadly silence and darkness Fischer liked it better this way so he let it stay and tried sleeping off. When he woke up or rather he think he did he had. He did not know where he was. Getting up with a little difficulty he realized he was in a lavishly decorated room with a huge queen sized bed and a couch facing a large flat screen television and a small table with a bottle of champagne in an ice tray. Obviously he was in a hotel room but it felt strangely familiar. ''Seems like you are already dressed up''. Said a voice. Fischer jumped up and turned to see a man dressed in a suit and tie opening the bottle of champagne.''Sorry didn't mean to startle you...have a seat, be comfortable''. Before Fischer knew it he was sitting on the couch with a glass of champagne in his hands. ''How did you...?!'' before Fischer could complete it the man replied ''I have a few tricks of my own but we'll come to that in a bit''. ''What is this place?'' asked Fischer feeling a little uncomfortable near the stranger but at the same time feeling a distant connection to him. ''You don't remember?!'' asked the stranger with a hint of surprise in his voice. ''Not when I just land up in a room like this out of thin air...literally''. ''You seem to have sense of humor...have a sip of the champagne its delicious and also may refresh some of your memories''. ''Its poisoned isn't it?'' asked Fischer suspiciously. ''If I had planned on killing you, you wouldn't be alive right now trust me'' the man replied confidently. Not arguing anymore Fischer took a sip of the champagne. It was nice and had a warm feeling on him, suddenly the man was gone and there were figures in the room . They were made of fog as one just casually passed by him her hands almost dissolved when it came in contact with his face. Fischer thought he must be dreaming or he must have been drugged. But then the figures started speaking. It appeared that there were rejoicing. He then recognized one of the figures...it was he himself. the rest of the crowd consisted of his sister and few of his colleges from work he could identify. ''Today I am happy to announce that I Robert Micheal Fischer am the new owner of my late fathers business empire.''. At this the room roared with applause and then the image dissolves and hes back in the room with the stranger who now seems to have been sitting next to him for quiet some time. ''I...I remember now this is the hotel where we celebrated my official ownership over my company''. ''Your father's company'' the man corrected. ''But how and...why are you showing me all this?''. asked Fischer beginning to sweat. ''Do you remember a certain man named Mr Dom Cobb?''. ''Fischer's face almost lost its colour when he heard that name. ''Yes I do". Then suddenly things started dawning upon him.'' Then you know he reason behind these weird happenings to you don't you?''.Before Fischer could say another word the whole room twisted and turned and dissolved and he was back in his office. the armed men were gone everything was back to normal Fischer quickly rose from his desk. ''Damn...must have been a dream, I don't think I am well enough I think I need rest.... I feel stressed''. That day he left work early and went home. He entered his room and after taking off his coat and tie and pouring himself a drink he sat on his favorite rocking chair and started thinking about the weird dream he had. his gaze then met an envelope on the dinner table. Raising an eyebrow he went towards it and opened it up and read it. At that moment he dropped his drink and fell back on a chair. His face showed grave fear and confusion. the letter read - '' It wasn't a dream. I tried to warn you but you fended me off after a long search I have found you again. We must meet cause there's an emergency...Your world as you know it is coming to an end....literally".
