Chapter 2

Frankie's POV

At first I didn't know what to do considering this dark beauty was knocked out cold right in front of me, however I eventually realized that saving her life might be the best suitable option. I quickly got into the driver's seat and sped off to my house in hopes that I would be able to do something to help her. Once I parked my truck in the garage I went to the backseat and swooped her out bridal style and carried her to my living room then placed her on the wooden floor near the fireplace. I then collected multiple pillows and blankets to support her head as well as keep her warm followed by lighting the fireplace and making an escape for the kitchen to try and gather my thoughts together. What the fuck have I done.

A few seconds into my intense moment of solitude, I heard a low, mellow whimpering sound coming from the living room. She's awake. I rushed to her side and lightly shook her, after some time she finally opened her eyes and looked around as if in a daze. You would've thought I had kidnapped her and drowned her in a pool filled with epidural.

"Hey, my name is Frankie. I found you in your car after you crashed. I'm just going to take care of you until you can manage on your own okay. I promise you I am not a rapist or serial killer." I said slowly and loudly as if I was having a conversation with a toddler.

"Where am I?" she panicked.

"You're in my house in Willowridge right now. What's your name?" I asked showing concern.

"Kim. Do you mind if I take a quick nap, I'm way beat" She said drowsily.

"No, absolutely not. You need to stay awake. In actual fact I need to phone the ambulance to make sure that nothing hectic is wrong with you. Wait right here okay." As if she would even go anywhere, seriously Frankie.

After dialing 911, I sat back down next to Kim and waited for the ambulance to arrive. Once they had given her the all clear and told her to stay put for at least 2 weeks, it was decided that she would take a short nap for a few minutes then the next step would be decided then.

"So .. Kim" I said unsure of myself. Not only was I feeling extremely awkward but I also felt extremely weird, which could be due to the fact that this was the first time in years I had ever had a woman in such close proximity to me in such an intimate setting.

"Uhm yeah" She said eyeing me intensely. If the circumstances were different I would've thought she wanted to rip my clothes off.

"Do you know where you are right now?"

"In your house right, I forgot where exactly you said though" she squinted her eyes trying to rack her brain and remember.

"Willowridge. It's quite a distance from any sort of city life."

"Okay" She said eyeing my wooden houses contents which included my hunting rifle stacked up right next to a deer's head.

"How are you feeling?" I asked genuinely concerned for her well being.

"I feel like I could go run a marathon or two" She said sarcastically. "I'm joking" She said seriously while raising her hands suggestively.

"Right" I forced out a chuckle then scratched my head not knowing what else to do with my ridiculously awkward hands. Doing that caused a shy giggle to escape her mouth and two crazy beautiful dimples to pop out.

God she is stunning.

After a moment of silently staring at each other our silence was interrupted by two gun shots faintly sounding off in the air. Her eyes immediately popped wide open and her whole demeanor became anxious as if she was expecting someone to shoot at the window.
