2 days ago, I got a call back from Martha, informing me I got the job. The best part? I will be Mr. Grove's new personal secretary, meaning I'll be with him anywhere he goes, 24/7. The reasons why he decided to choose me as his secretary. 1. I'm not in a relationship, which is an advantage because he doesn't want his secretary's attention to get distracted. 2. I've had a lot of experiences with traveling, since I volunteer a lot in organizations. 3. I'm used with having a lot of paper works. And 4. I know how to cook and do household chores. Though I really don't know what's the connection of the last part to my job but, who cares? What's important is that I do now have a stable job and it pays a good price.
And now, it's 5:30 in the morning and I'm wide awake, getting ready for my first day of work. You don't wanna be late on your first day right? We're trying to make a good impression here. I had cooked and ate my breakfast for 20 mins., went to shower for 30 mins., finished getting dressed for 10 mins., a total of 1 hour. I had to finish everything by 6:30 because my apartment is too far from the office. So I still have to ride a bus, and it takes 45 mins. for me to get to work.

It's now 7:15am on my watch and I got to the building right on time. The call time is 8, but I want to arrive early so that I could still have time to familiarize and practice the things that I'll be doing as a secretary. I've never been on this position before, that's why it's a big challenge for me, and I will try my best to do good so that Mr. Grove wouldn't regret choosing me as his secretary.
After about 15 mins., Martha arrived and taught me the basic and the color coding of folders so that I won't get confused compiling the files, and gave some ideas to what Mr. Grove wants and will be expecting everytime he arrives. I made coffee for Mr. Grove and got some newspaper and placed it on his table. I also prepared the papers that he needs to work on, so when he arrives everything is settled.
Everything went smooth on the first day. I met some staff and new friends and had an orientation on the different departments. I also met Tyler's secretary, Jessica. We got along instantly, and we became close friends. She's 5 years older than me and just recently got engaged. For the next few days, we always go to lunch together, either I would wait for her or she will wait for me. I also knew that Tyler works on the shipping and investment department.
"Hi Tammy, done on your work?" It was now 5:30pm and Jessica came to drop by.
"No, not yet. Gosh! Today's a busy day for me. You?" Mr. Grove went on a meeting in New York and will be staying there for a week, so while he's away, I need to continue his work.
"It's now 5:30 and everyone's out except you. Work is only up to 5. You need to get some rest, you've been working nonstop on that since this morning." Jessica said, worried.
"I need to finish this on time before Mr. Grove will be back. All important documents will be delayed if I won't finish this." In all honesty, I'm emotionally okay but physically tired. I just want to sleep now.
"Hey! It will not be your fault if those documents will get delayed on its due date. After all, it's not really your work, you're just a temporary substitute of Mr. Grove while he's away. And besides, he didn't pressure you that you should finish them before he comes back." Jessica said.
"But what if"
"Come on, just leave it there and you can continue them on Monday. It's Friday, you should relax and have fun. Why don't you come with me?" She's really a bad influence to me.
"Where are we going?" I asked.
"I don't know, anywhere you want. For as long as you'll have fun. You need to take break, you're too stressed with work. It's still your first week but you're already very stressed." Jessica insisted.
"Okay fine, just give me 5 minutes. I'll just keep this." What can I do? After all, I need to take a break. I also need a girls night out. It's been a month since I've last hang out.
