I smiled. There was everything to smile about. The way the sun reflected on my pale skin, the way the swingset moved back and forth, beckoning my arrival. The frozen popsicles just inside my grandmother's condominium. I loved these summer days, they passed every year, offering the same relief. "Brooklyn!" My grandma called from the front porch.
I ran from the solace of the swingset, as fast as my little feet could carry me.
" You've been out here for hours, aren't you tired? it's almost dawn, and the Sun is starting to set. Come along now."
I entered the house, knowing that the swingset would be awaiting my arrival, but until then, I put my trust into the skies to protect my haven.
