I looked at my Father- well he wasn't actually my Father but he had raised me since birth so he was the closest thing I had to one- slightly confused.

"Why did you call me here?" I asked him, twiddling my wand between my fingers.

The Hogwarts headmaster smiled sadly and gestured to the chair in front of his desk which I made myself comfortable in.

"You are aware of course of a certain wizard named Voldemort, I dare say." Father said, sucking on a sherbet lemon.

Who the hell hasn't?!

"Yes, certainly." I answered politely. "What of him?"

"Fifty years ago when Voldemort attended this very school he went by another name, Tom Riddle. I want you to use this-"

Father held up a timeturner before my very eyes and placed it in my hands.

"-and go back and stop him from becoming the wizard he is today."

My eyes widened. "Y-you want me... To use this... To stop Voldemort... From being Voldemort?"

Father looked at me slightly amused. "That is what I just said, Isis."

I put the timeturner down on the desk and looked into my Father's eyes, tears welling up.

"Why me?" My voice trembled. "Because I'm going to die soon anyway, is that it?" I rubbed my wrist as if the thought of it were painful.

Father narrowed his eyes and shook his head. "That isn't the purpose of this at all. I believe you and only you have the power to change him."

I rolled my eyes in annoyance. "How stupid does that sound? 'only you' blah blah blah. You make it sound like it's my destiny."

Father breathed heavily. "Oh but it is."

I furrowed my eyebrows. "What do you mean? Father?"

"All will become clear soon but there isn't time to waste. Remember what I am about to tell you it is vital."

I nodded intrigued.

"First, you must make yourself a fake identity. No one will take kindly to you being a Peverell. I have a letter for you to give my past self. He will understand." Father handed me a piece of parchment which I placed on the desk next to the timeturner.

"Second, keep on the Peverell necklace at all times. It will keep your little curse under control."

I sighed. I know. I know. I never take the necklace off except for showers anyway.

"Third, trust no one but myself. Tom Riddle will have his Death Eater spies everywhere. And last, tell no one of where you come from or of your mission." Father finished

"If I'm not allowed to trust anyone I'm hardly going to blurt out my intentions of being there." I huffed, crossing my arms.

Father chuckled lightly and rose from his chair. "It's high time you be on your way."

"I never said I'd agree to this." I groaned.

"You can't resist." Father said. "You've always been curious."

"You got me." I raised my hands in mock surrender.

Father smiled again before falling back into his grave expression. "You know your mission, correct?"

"I do, Father." I bowed my head.

"Either you change his heart or you die trying." Father said, squeezing my shoulders. "You are our only hope."

"What about Harry Potter?" I asked. "It's his destiny."

"But think of all the deaths. Before your time and yet to be."

I closed my eyes in defeat. "I'm ready." I said, opening them again. "I'm not gonna have to turn that thing like a billion times, am I?" I raised my eyebrows.

Father patted my head. "All ready done."

Wow. How long did that take?

I put the timeturner around my neck and read the acrylic writting on it

I mark the hours everyone,

Nor yet have I outrun the sun,

My worth and value unto you,

Are gauged by what you have to do.

"Weird saying." I mumbled.

I waited a few moments. "It's not doing anything!" I said frustrated, looking back to Father.

"Just spin it once more and it'll work." Father grimaced. "Goodbye Isis Peverell."

I spun the timeturner once more and saw a gold light flash around my form in an orb.

Then a terrible thought dawned on me. "Wait, how do I get back?" I called out to my Father. "How do I- DADDY!" I screamed, suddenly hitting a hard surface, my vision going.
