After a few minutes we were in the Dungeon corridor.
"Rather dreary." I mumbled as my eyes wonder the bleak walls.
"It is, isn't it?" Eileen agreed, shrugging. "I think people assume all Slytherins must follow a dark path. Truthfully we're just like everyone else at this school.""Why are yo- we-" I corrected. "So 'stereotyped'?"
Eileen shrugged as we came to a spiraling staircase leading further down. "People don't like people who are different. Mind you, Mother wasn't pleased when I ended up in this house." She shuddered and turned to look at me. "Anyway, look we're here now."The staircase finished here and in front of us now was a brick wall.
"Urrrrrrrrrr..." I said dumbfounded. "H-how?"
Eileen grinned at me and excitedly walked further forward and whispered. "Pure blood." To the wall.
I blinked. Had the password really ever been anything else? The bricks started to shift and pop out of the wall, which reminded me greatly of Diagon Alley, till it formed an archway we could walk through.
Cautiously, I followed Eileen in, the bricks closing the gap behind us.
How come Slytherins have a way cooler entrance than Ravenclaw? All we got was a riddle, nothing extravagant, though usually it's something stupid like which comes first the chicken or the egg? Nothing original there."Welcome to Slytherin Common Room!" Eileen said cheerily, snapping me out of my thoughts.
I had to admit, Slytherin Common Room was more impressive than I anticipated. Though I don't know what I was expecting.
Most of the decor was green and silver (Slytherin colours) except the some of the furniture as the couches were a deep velvet- red. There was a fireplace that flickered and was almost reflected on the shiny stone floor which showed how well maintenance it was.
Curiously, there were windows dotted around the Common Room, showing striking images of terrific thunder and lightning which didn't make sense considering we're underground.
"Eileen, aren't we underground?" I asked slowly.
Eileen looked up from the sofa she had spread out on. "Well yes..." She looked at the window in front of me and giggled in realisation. "Magic, silly. They're enchanted.""Oh." Well of course it was. I nodded and walked away from the window, seemingly bored of the enchanted scenery outside, and flopped into the seat next to her.
"Oh, I forgot!" I gasped, thrusting the trifle that I had been grasping into her hands which had become slightly warm in my grip. Let's just hope she doesn't notice or mind. "Here."
Eileen grinned at me widely. "Thanks!"
"But I forgot a spoon." My smile faltered slightly. Idiot.
"No worries. I'll have it later." Eileen shrugged. "Want to see the rooms?" She said pulling me off the sofa, excitedly.
Did I really have a choice?Unfortunately, my name was not written on anyone of those dormitories though I'd be surprised if they were as I was what you could call an imposter.
Eileen was a little suspicions but I just told her it was because I was a transfer student which luckily, she bought.
I decided to wait it out as Dumbledore probably had something planned for me or if not I would try and find him later in the evening to arrange something.
As soon as we were in the Common Room yet again I asked possibly the stupidest question I could at this given time. "Do you know if... Urrr Tom Riddle is in my year group?" I said quietly to Eileen as she rubbed her hands by the fireplace.
Embers sparked but died down quickly. It may seem out of the blue but I just had to ask. It would be a big problem if I was in the wrong time stream.
Eileen's eyes grew wide. "You know Tom?"
"Well umm... I had... A friend who umm... Went to this school and she urr... Said he was-"
"Look you don't want to be messing with that lot, alright?" Eileen looked me dead in the eyes with a very serious expression and tone. "There's word he has like a group of followers-"
"-Death Eaters..." I breathed.
"What?" Eileen said, obviously and luckily not hearing me.
"Oh nothing... Go on."
Eileen sighed. "My point is, is that he's dangerous. Just avoid him."
Well that is going to be impossible...
"-And yes, he is in fifth year."
Oh thank Merlin's beard.
I wonder why Eileen doesn't like Tom too much. Apparently he was a looker and quite the ladies man- so I've heard from old Daily prophet articles when Voldemort first made a public spectacle of the dark arts.
As I remember Eileen called her son a murderous traitor or something when Snape joined the Death Eaters so maybe she always disliked Tom and his 'friends'.
"As if." A female someone snorted from the entrance to the Common Room.
Eileen's eyes widened as the footsteps became increasingly louder.
"What?" I whisperered, with worry etched on my face- I was sure.
I didn't know why I was whispering but I just seemed appropriate.Eileen's hand found mine as she pulled on me to go towards the stairway that lead to the girl's dormitories.
I hesitated as I was curious to see why she was so eager to leave but I quickly followed once I saw the immediate desperation in her facial features.I caught a glimpse of a boy with hair as white as snow whose piercingly blue eyes followed me up the stairs. He nudged his dark haired friend who cocked his head at me briefly before being ambushed by a bunch of girls, one of which had the resemblance of a Parkinson by her slight upturned nose, ebony hair and eyes.
