An Ugly Sacrifice

Annabeth's POV

Percy and I were falling into Tartarus, holding hands. Suddenly, I felt a jolt, and we stopped falling. I looked up, and there was Percy, brave, but scared, handing on a ledge. His knuckles were white, and I could tell that he was super tired.

"Percy! I'll let go! You pull yourself up and wait for Leo to throw a rope down!" shouted Annabeth.

"NO!!!" screeched Percy as he hoisted me up to the ledge. "I'm NOT gonna let you fall, Annabeth! I'm so sorry I got us into this mess in the first place!"

"Percy!" I shouted while in a flurry of tears. "No!"

At that moment, Percy fell, as I stayed on the rock, sobbing, until Leo threw a rope down, and I climbed up. Jason, Piper, Leo, Frank, and Hazel were all waiting at the top, to ask EXACTLY what had happened. I explained whole situation to them. Piper and Hazel were in tears. Jason, Frank, and Leo didn't look too happy either.

But out of everyone, I was probably the saddest. I mean, Percy was my BOYFRIEND!!! I knew things about him that no one else did.

As everyone went to process that Percy had fallen into Tartarus, Jason stayed. I thought it was a bit awkward. But then, all he did was hug me and comfort me. It was very sweet.

Piper was watching, but I could tell that she didn't care that her boyfriend was hugging me.

We stayed like this for about a half hour. I REALLY needed that.

"Hey, Annabeth, would you uh, like to go out sometime?" said Jason all giggly.

"Umm, sure I guess." I replied. "But, what about Piper?"

"We broke up."

"Oh."

(Five months later)

Jason and I were messing around with Nacho, Jason's dog. "Come Nacho!" said Jason.

I was still very sad about the incident with Percy, but I'm sure Nico's gonna fix it. He's bound to, right'"?
