The day after Tock lost his memories, he adventured back down into the Tower. Gavie finds him crying in his closet of supplies. Gavie asks him for info, Tock says his name and that that's all he knows.
Gavie soon becomes Tock only legal guardian and teaches him their song, telling him to sing it when he feels lonely.
That night, Tock meets the whole janitorial crew. And they celebrate that day as his birthday, singing the song all together.
