Kiara
"My Queen, I beg you for mercy! My daughter is starving, I didn't know what else to do!" A poor man pleaded, down on his knees.
Getting up, Kiara replied, "wait here." Heading behind her thrown, there was a door, the gold room door. Entering, she skimmed her fingers along every piece while going down the long room. Reaching the smaller pieces, she took 10 gold nuggets and placed them in a bag. Going back, she closed the door behind her and walked over to the man, handing him the bag. "Feed you and your daughter. Buy a house, and never have to live on the streets again."
"Why, thank you! I-"
"Do me a favor. Don't let others know of this. We wouldn't want everyone coming and asking for money, would we now?" She gave a smile.
"Yes my lady, of course!" The guard escorted him out and Kiara sat back on her throne. Sighing, she rested her head on her hand, her elbow was placed on her arm rest. She crossed her legs and relaxed for a bit.
"My lady, others are awaiting to see you." One of the guard spoke up.
"How many?" Sitting up straight, she placed her hands in her lap.
"About 50, ma'am." The guard replied. Kiara let out a sigh. So many people to cover in one day! But she knew it had to be done.
"Send the next in..." Let's get this over with. She thought.

Avory
Avory looked around him nervously as they walked down the long hall. The walls were a bronze color, but he couldn't help but feel as though they were dark and gloomy. Soon, Avory was to take his fathers place and rule Prelar. Avory sighed at the thought. He didn't know how to rule a kingdom! Let alone, he didn't want to!
"Avory." His father beckoned him to his office as a women, who was crying, walked away. He must have looked shocked at the sight, for when his father closed the door he said, "Sometimes a king has to do things, make choices, that may not make everyone happy. That's your first lesson." His father did not regret his choice though, even that Avory could tell.
To this, Avory only nodded. How was he going to tell his father how he felt. Surely he wouldn't be pleased... And the mere thought of disappointing him sent a shiver up Avory's back, especially after the last time...
~Flashback~
"Father no, please, I'm sorry!" Avory pleaded as he was dragged off to his room by the king.
"This is for your own good." Arin replied with a deep voice with no emotion.
"Arin, dear, he's only a boy!" His mother, Lady Safron, was quick to try and protect her son. "There's no need to be so harsh!" She grabbed his arm making him stop and look at her.
"Shut up women." Arin shoved her off and practically threw Avory in his room, and closed the door behind him as he entered.
Avory cowered as him father loomed over him like an angry dark cloud before a storm. Arin took out a whip and Avory crawled to the nearest corner in fear. It didn't matter. No matter what, he couldn't escape what was to come next. He closed his eyes and braced himself.
Wack!
~Present~
"Now, Avory since you are to be king, there are a few things you need to know and understand." Arin said, sitting at his desk.
Avory gulped. "Father, why can't Eric take place as king, I just, I don't feel like I can rule..." Eric was his brother, only two years younger than Avory. He also had a sister, Talia, she is 15 years of age.
"Nonsense you have the potential to rule, and rule you shall." His father replied.
Avory hesitated. "But" He paused, trying to find the right words, "you don't understand.."
"What exactly don't I understand?"
"It's not that I don't think I can rule, I don't want to rule." Avory finally said. To this, his father looked shocked."That's crazy, it's every boys dream to be a king!"
"It's not my dream, nor destiny. Father, please try to understand!" Avory saw the disappointment in his father's eyes and was ashamed. It killed him having to disappoint his father, but he had no other choice.
"You must be king! You're the heir to the throne!" Arin roared, and stood up from his desk, this way Avory had to look up at him.
"But Eric can rule surely, he's only a few years younger and just as capable as me!" Avory pleaded.
His father's eyes glared down at him in shame. "You will be king, and you will not disappoint me."
"Father, please!" Avory was lost for words, all he could think to do was beg. Beg like a peasant would beg for food.
"Do I need to remind you what happened last time you disappointed me!? Do you really want to disappoint me again!?" His father's eyes showed all the anger in the world.. Why couldn't he just understand!?
By this point, Avory was growing angry as well. "Father." He began, trying his best not to show fear. "It is my life. And the path of a king, is just not the path I want to take. Whether or not you understand, doesn't matter." He glared up at his father, whose anger only grew.
"I don't give a rat's shit what path you want to take!" Arin roared. "You are my son, and as long as you are, you are to rule whether you like it or not!"
"Well maybe I don't want to be your son!" Avory roared back but instantly covered his mouth after the words slipped out. This brought silence to the room as his father's glare softened to a tint of sadness. In a softer voice Avory murmured, "I'm sorry, I just..."
"Leave. I need to think this over." His father couldn't even face him. Avory turned, ashamed, and left the room, heading for his own room. The walk was gloomy, and Avory had wished he just kept his mouth shut. But god, how he was also glad he spoke his mind to put that old man his his place.
