During the middle of the night I had woken up. Suddenly, I bolt straight up and begin frantically looking around the room, but see nothing but darkness. I hear nothing but the soft breathing of my friends around me. For nearly fifteen minutes, I sit there in my sleeping bag and look from person to person scattered across the wooden floors of this cabin in the woods. That cat we found early, Sneaky or whatever we decided to name it, had come over to my bed. Though I really don't like animals, cats aren't that bad, so I just roll over and let the cat curl up on my bag.

~The Next Morning~

In the morning, I wake to a misty light. I don't know where it's coming from because there are no windows at all in the bottom floor of this  house, it baffles me. Then again, a lot of normal, everyday things baffle me. Eventually, I hear someone messing around in the kitchen and suspect that it's Jenn. She always is the first one up, so she's most likely making breakfast. So, once again, I roll over, close my eyes and fall back to sleep.

~Later in the Morning~

What I'd think to be hours later, I am woken by a voice saying, "Are you guys ever going to get up?" Jenn asks the rest of us while leaning in the doorway from the kitchen. The rest of us are still sprawled across the living room floor, giving Jenn no response: not even a movement.

Eventually, Maggie lets out a low, long groan as she rolls over and says, "It's still way too early."

Jenn argues, "Umm. No, it's not! It's 9:30!" The only answer she receives this time is completely and utter silence. She lets out a sigh, "For real?"

I hear a sleeping bag rustle and Ann say, "Why are you always the first one up?"

Jenn smartly answers, "Well, because I always get woken up first and, if I didn't, we wouldn't have any breakfast."

"You made breakfast?" Ann says sadly.

"Yeah, like an hour and a half ago." Jenn reports.

Ann mutters, "Sorry."

But, Jennifer retorts, "No, don't worry about it. I occupied myself, no worries."

Ann curiously questions, "By-?"

Before either one of them can begin again, I grumpily murmur, "Can you guys please be quiet???"

Jennifer and Ann quickly exit to the staircase off the hallway, talking as they go.

I must have drifted back to sleep because I don't hear anything until about 30 minutes later, when Jenn and Ann go outside through the front door.

I roll over, stretching. As I do, I try to wake Maggie. Eventually, she gives in and rolls over in her sleeping bag. We gather our things and head upstairs.

Today I'm wearing my favorite skinny jeans, a sparkly top, and my jean vest. And, as a final touch, I add my sparkly, glitter converse. My black high tops are still soaked, muddy, and stained from the other night, out in the rain. I doubt I'll be wearing those again anytime soon.

I look into the mirror and nearly shriek in horror of the sight! My hair is a mess. As I try to make my hair look acceptable, Maggie finishes getting ready. I plug in my straightener and get to work. Thirty minutes later I'm completely finished with my hair. Then I remember my favorite sparkly bow. I put that on too.

After unplugging my straightener, I decided to get to work on my makeup. Before I start, I plug my iPhone into my new portable speaker and blast out my favorite jams. Most of the time, singing along, sometime purposely singing way off key, for no apparent reason at all. About 15 minutes later I'm done with my makeup.

I pack up my thing in my makeup case and start to head downstairs, but just before I reach the top step of the stairs, I remember something! I set down my case and dash back into the bathroom. Climbing on top of the toilet, I peer over the top of the shelf, my heart drops. It's gone. The doll. It's gone. It couldn't have just up and walked away! Could it? No, I'm sure it couldn't have. I mean, it's a doll for crying out loud! But, honestly that's what frightens me the most. Its a doll, but it's not alive, so it couldn't have possibly moved by itself. Well, at least to the best of my knowledge, it couldn't. But, you never know! Did I just imagine it? No, I didn't. I'm sure I didn't. Then, how? Leaving my questions unanswered, I decided to let go and see if I can find the others.
