________________[Dan's Pov]
"See you tomorrow, loser!" I hear as I get off the bus. I sigh. Just another day at school Dan; just another day of torture. At least it is the weekend. That means I can do something with my parents or hang out with Phil.
Phil is my best friend ever; even though he's 4 years older than me. He's a family friend so it doesn't matter. Phil has been there for me every time I needed it and he accepts me. He accepts me even though I'm a piece of trash. And that type of person is one of the greatest types of people you will ever find. He's one of the greatest types of people I've ever found, anyway.
As I walk down the street to my home I feel the soft breeze flowing ahead of me. It feels so refreshing and I almost forget the day's events. I wish I could. But these kinds of days stay with you your whole life to keep you in your place.
-~-Flashback-~-
I was standing by my locker with my only friends in my grade. PJ, Chris, Tyler, and Troye. They are all bullied like me so we understand each other.
I thought everything would just run smoothly and plain like usual, but instead, a group of bullies decided to come and circle me.
The tallest, meanest, most popular boy in my school said, "How are you today, Gaylord?" They always make fun of me for my sexuality. Homophobes. "Still a virgin or have you fucked up a bunch of men?" They group laughed as if that was the funniest thing they ever heard.
I tried to say something back to defend myself, but no words came out and I was stuck there, opening and closing my mouth like a fish out of water.
Slowly, a crowd of people came over to watch the scene, obviously not on my side however as they were laughing as well.
"What's the matter Danny?" another said. "Forget how to speak?" I forced down a swallow. "You are a loser Daniel Howel. A coward and a loser and you always will be." I gulped at his words, holding back tears.
Finally, Chris came up to them and tried to defend me.
"Hey! Leave him alone!" he shouted at them. He looked as tough as he could get and it actually was convincing.PJ and Tyler than came up to them and shouted back defending words as well.
A lot of back and forth arguing went down until Troye came over, calm and smooth as ever, and said, "If you guys don't quit arguing I will personally barge into the faculty meeting and get every teacher out here to make you all quit." Troye was calm, but firm and serious.
That seemed to do the trick, because the crowd dissipated and made it's way to lunch, and the bullies left too, leaving me and my group of friends there by the lockers.
Chris and PJ put arms around me and Tyler and Troye both pat my shoulder comfortingly.
"Don't listen to any of them, Dan," Peej said.
"Yeah, there all a bunch of idiots who don't understand what they're doing," Tyler added. Chris and Troye nodded in agreement.
"Thank you, guys," I mumbled, loud enough for them to hear and understand. "I don't know what I would of done without you."
We group hugged and made or way to lunch.
-~-Back to Present-~-
I shudder, remembering the (one sided) fight I got into earlier. I would definitely talk to my mom and dad about it later. They always know what to say.
When I turn the corner and make my way to my house, I see a sight that makes me stop right in my tracks. My house. It's not there. There is nothing left but ashes and smoke. A tear slips down my face.
There are fire fighters and police cars parked in my driveway and a group of them stands in the front of what's left of the house, deep in anxious conversation. They pull me over to them cautiously, as if about to reveal to someone that their grandma didn't survive a surgery.
"Hi young man. As you can tell, there was a big fire in your house. That pile over there has all of what we could save," a man says, pointing to a pile of ash covered items.
"My parents," I manage to say.
"Are- are they o-okay?"The man scratches his arm nervously, looking at a woman next to him. She makes a look at him as if saying 'go on, tell him.'
He says, "I want you to stay calm, okay. Your parents were in your house during the fire. We tried so hard to get them out. But they were stuck. We couldn't reach them in time. Your parents are dead."
Suddenly every part of me shuts down. Except my ability to stay up and conscious. My heart is empty. I don't know how to feel anymore. I wish this soft breeze would get bigger and just blow me away from here.
A/N- So how did you guys find it? Does it need work? Any tips or suggestions? Comment here with any suggestions or comments for my story:)
