(Max P.O.V.)
The Dark Man. Those words made me freeze. He was the man that nearly killed Jasmine. My jaw clicked, if he recognized her that she would be in trouble for sure. As I studied the man I understood what Jasmine has talking about, it was as if I could feel his aura from over here. Pure blackness was all I could see in him. He began to bark orders again, still holding Jasmine’s hand I lead her and Ellie over to where the other shoppers had lined up.
“I don’t think he’ll recognize you unless you tell him it’s you. We’ll be okay if we just do what he says” I whispered in Jasmine’s ear
She shook her head looking up at me, her beautiful blue-green eyes shone with worry, fear, anger, sadness and determination. “No, I cant just stand here and let him do this to all these people. Even if we do what he says there’s no guarantee that he’ll leave everyone alone. The night he robbed my house, my mother asked for him to spare me but he didn’t even flinch when he pulled that trigger. We have to save these people before he can hurt them like he hurt me” The determination was shining in her eyes more than ever. She was right, it was wrong for these people to experience such horrors.
Smiling slightly I couldn’t help but notice how beautiful she looked at this moment, brushing the hair from her cheek I smiled wider. “I think your determination is rubbing off on me. What’s the plan?” Nodding she looked down thinking
She snapped her head up, “What if we find a way to draw them out of the shop? Then they could lock the doors and keep them out. I’m sure the police are on their way by now… I’ll distract them and run trough the door, call out to them and provoke them to step outside, if they don’t you push them and then lock the doors”
I thought for a second, “I don’t know if I like that plan, its really dangerous Peaches…”
She pleaded with her eyes, “Come on Max, we can do this”
I sighed giving in, “Please just be careful, okay?” I cupped her cheek rubbing my thumb alone her cheekbone
She smiled and lent into my hand, “Aren’t I always?”
Suddenly I surprised myself, my body began to move without listening to what why brain was saying. I lent down and placed my lips on hers, as soon as our lips made contact fireworks erupted. She seemed a little shocked at first but began to kiss me back. I smiled into her lips, if I’d known that kissing her would feel this good I would have done it long ago. We broke apart breathless, resting my forehead on hers I smiled again, “Please just be careful…” I pleaded with my eyes
She smiled and nodded, “I promise”
Someone cleared their throat beside us and we both snapped our heads in their direction, the Dark Man stood before us. He grinned evilly at our intertwined hands, “Aw, isn’t this just so sweet…” He cooed
I felt Jasmine squeeze my hand a little and then let go, she grabbed the peach that was still in my other hand and threw it right into the mans face. It made a splatting sound and fell to the ground, the peach juice dripped down his face.
“You little-” He yelled angrily until he was interrupted by Jasmine kicking him in the shin
She bolted through the doors and stood in the parking lot, I could hear the faint ringing of sirens; good they would be here soon.
“Come on boys! Your not afraid of a girl are you?” She yelled through the doors
The Dark man turned to the other robber and gestured for him to go outside, “James, go get her would you, bring her back in here before the police get here”
