The knight closed the Princess's door quietly, grinning from ear to ear as she crept through the corridor. As a common girl, she would have never been able to have the opportunity to meet the Princess, let alone attempt to win her heart.
She took off the heavy silver helmet, guarding all of her face except for her eyes. It was amazing how Avalon hadn't even thought of the possibility of a woman being a Knight.
In her defense, her family back home hadn't either. No one thought that Alexandra Bianco would cut her hair and join the Knight's Cavalry.
The lingering doubt inside of her mind knocked incessantly throughout her. What if Avalon would never reciprocate these feelings for her, even if she had perceived Alexandra to be a manly knight the whole time?
But Princess Avalon was sixteen, past courting season. If she was going to marry a man, she would have by now. After all, everyone had heard how she had been scorned by the last suitor that had been granted to her by her mother.
They had only known each other for a few hours. The princess was right. Maybe love would learn to find away inside their two hearts. The kingdom had seen women marry before, but certainly not their Fair Royalty.
Befriend her first. Love will follow.
