In her dimly lit bedroom, Emma locked herself up for the past three hours. She wouldn't come down to eat anything, neither did she tell anyone what was wrong. A simple, "I'm not hungry!" is all that her parents and her maid got from her. However, there was nothing they could possibly do but to let her be for the moment.

How could I be so stupid? How could I let this happen? Oh, God, what have I done? What have I done? Emma, what have you done? Emma couldn't stop crying. She couldn't believe her sweet times with Damian would be over soon, if it wasn't over already. Of course he already had a girlfriend, a guy as charming as him. Who knows what else he was hiding from me?

Emma had always considered herself lucky to be able to date someone like Damian. Now, she couldn't stop blaming herself for being so blind. Her joy of being Damian's girlfriend had clouded her judgment so she only saw what she wanted to see, or so she believed.

She reached for her purse, wanting to dial her friend's number, but she hesitated. What could she say? She would only cry and didn't even say a thing. No. It was getting late. She'd better get some sleep. So, she got up from her bed and started to undress. She took her short, soft blue night gown from behind her bathroom door and reached for her bed. She threw herself on it, hugged tight her cuddly cow doll and closed her eyes.

Just as she tried to sleep, her cell rang. Too lazy to pick it up properly, she flipped open her phone without looking at the caller ID and answered.

"Hello?"

Emma said lazily, and very sleepily, as if indicating that she was in no mood for talking.

"Emma! Emma, thank goodness you picked up! I thought you would ignore my call. Emma, please, give me a chance to explain. Let me explain the whole thing. Please. Katharine Emerald is..."

Emma heard Damian's usual velvet voice, colored with a tone of urgency. She immediately regretted picking up her phone. She sighed.

"Damian, look. I don't want to know, okay? But I'm sure as hell I wouldn't be happy if I was in Katharine's position. I don't blame her. She has the right to be angry. What I don't understand is why you could do something like this? You, of all people! You used to be this guy that I thought was most gentle out of all the guys I've ever met. Now? I don't even know you. If you could do this to Katharine, who knows one day maybe you decided that you are bored with me and leave me just like you left her."

Surprisingly to Emma, she still managed to sound calm as she was replying to Damian. After hours of being sad and crying, it was a great thing for Emma to be able to still take control of the situation. The last thing she wanted was for Damian to know she wanted him back so bad. She wasn't even sure whether she should hate Damian for what he did, or rather, for what he hid from her.

"I would never do that to you. Emma, please. I didn't leave her. She left me. Please, trust me."

Damian pleaded from the other side of the phone. He sounded desperate, but Emma wasn't buying it.

"I want to trust you, Damian. And I did. But today? Don't think I don't know what your friends had been talking about. I heard them speaking about telling me something. They knew. They knew about Katharine, didn't they? I hate being the last to know."

"Emma, listen..."

"No, you listen, Damian. Do you remember the first promise you made to me?"
