Nicole, who goes my Nikki, is a Halfling. She's half angel and half human. Tears stream out of her emerald green eyes and down her face as she sits by a tree that is along the long pathway in the woods that she likes to wake walks on. She thought back to the previous day. She thought about everything that had happened to her over the past few months. She thought about the battle that the angels had won against the demons. She thought about the honor of being able to fight alongside full-bread angels. She thought about how she celebrated the victory with her friends after it was over. She thought about the news that rained on their parade. Her father, arc angel, was killed in combat. From that point on there was no more celebrating. No one laughed or smiled. They all mourned the great loss that they had suffered. The demons had killed their leader. At least that's what they thought. Everyone assumed that's what had happened but it wasn't like that all. He was killed by one of their own, an angel.

It all started on a Friday morning when she was walking along the long trail in the woods behind her house. There was a sudden flash of light that blinded her for a brief moment. When she could see clearly again, she didn't believe it at first. At that point in time it was hard for her to even grasp what species she herself was. So when she saw a true full-bread angel standing in front of her she was astounded. The angel was a male and he wore white closes that shined brightly. "Greetings, Nikki Livev. I've come to you today with an invitation from the arc angel, Darius." He pulled out a small postcard-like invitation and handed it to her. Nikki hesitated to grab it. She was very confused. Why would this arc angel person send her an invitation? What was she invited to? Looking down at the invitation opened it and began to read.

Nikki Livev, I've been watching you closely. I have seen the struggles that you went through, trying to discover who you really are. I know that your mother won't tell you who your father is. Don't be too hard on her. It is a very sensitive subject for her. I have watched you search for answers all over the world and you should be very grateful that your mother has agreed to fund your expeditions for knowledge. She knows the truth but she promised your father that she would let him explain everything to you. I know how hard it's been for you. Knowing that you were different from everyone else but no one believes you. I watched them mock you both behind your back and to your face. I know all about your teachers that recommended that you go to therapy and the ones that wanted to put you into the special education program. I saw how hurt you were and how hurt you are now. I've seen you struggle to come to terms with what you are, and I know that you still are in need of answers. I can give them to you. I have the answers to all of the questions that you have and many more. I would like to formally invite you to join the Army of Angles in combat. This includes months' worth of training and conditioning. It won't be easy, but I think you can handle it. After everything you've been through, this
probably won't faze you at all. I hope that you agree to come and fight with us. It would please me very much if you accepted this invitation. Keep in mind, this is the only way that I will be able to give you the answers that you are looking for. Please think it over and make sure you make the right choice for you. If you choose to accept this invitation go back to the place where you received it with at least enough clothes to last you for three months. Transportation will meet you there
                                  Sincerely,
                   Darius, Arc Angel

After reading the invitation in its entirety, Nikki pondered over whether she was going to accept it. She desperately wanted the answers that Darius could give her and she knew what an honor it was for a Halfling to be invited to fight with full-bread angels. She looked back at the angel that had been standing before her only to find that he had disappeared. She looked all around her, trying to find him but she came up short. He was gone. Nikki was disappointed that her experience with him was so short lived. If she accepted the invitation she knew that she would see him and others like him. Nikki sat down, leaned her back against a nearby tree and thought about it. She didn't understand why she was so conflicted about it. The obvious choice was to accept the invitation and go find the answers that she had been searching for her whole life. What was so difficult about saying yes? What was troubling her so much? She didn't figure it out until she heard her mom call her from the house. "Nikki," she said. "Come inside please." Nikki then realized that the reason that she hadn't made up her mind yet was because of her mother. Nikki was worried about what her mother would think. Would she be okay with it? Would she let her go? Nikki thought back to what the invitation said. It said that her mother knew the truth. If she really knew the truth and she really promised that she would let Nikki's father explain everything, then she would have to let Nikki go. "Nikki! Come inside. I need to talk to you." When she heard her mother call her a second time, Nikki got up immediately to see what her mother needed.

Walking inside the house, Nikki saw her mother sitting on the couch with a very worried expression on her face. Nikki sat down beside her and looked at her expectantly. "I didn't think it would happen so soon," her mom said. "I thought I would have a little more time with you before you left." Nikki's eyes widened when she realized what her mother was talking about.
