I look at my new list of books. I'm planning on going to Diagon Alley tomorrow with my guard Thomas. I'm going to meet Tia, my best friend and fellow 3rd year Griffindor. My name is Mavis Riddle, yes Riddle. I am the daughter of Bellatrix Lestrange and Lord Voldemort himself.

I live with my father in his mantion when I'm not at Hogwarts, the best school a wizard could ever hope to go to. I am a half-blood by birth but both my parents are wizards. Never not once have I lived a normal life. Between all the times we move to the visits with my mother, I never have time for friends.

That's why Tia is so precious to me, and if anyone even tried to hurt her, however long you had left in your life would be cut short. Fast

"Mavis come down your father wants to speak with you, NOW."

Our rude housekeeper Elenor calls up the stairs. My bedroom is the highest tower in the mantion, but the 'mantion' looks more like a castle. My stomach churns as I walk downstairs, talks with my father always ends up with me being punished. You wouldn't belive the note I got when they heard I was put into Griffindor not Slytherin like them.

I walk into my father's office "Yes father you requested to see me."

He turns his chair around so he's looking at me. Most people would scream if they saw his face, but i'm far used to it then i'd or anyone else would like to be.

"Mavis, I just wanted to say bye before you left, and tell you I expect the highest marks in your year."

I sigh, for a moment I thought he acually cared "I'll try father but-"

"Mavis no buts. If I see you aren't the highest in your grade by the end of the year I will take away your broom, owl, pygmy puff, and all the time you spend with Tia."

I stand up in protest "But father!"

He follows suit "NO MAVIS GO TO YOUR ROOM."

I look at the features on  his face, all scrunched up and mad. I know this is a loosing battle so I stomp out of the office and go back to my room to finnish packing. I throw the rest of my robes, books, and parchment that I had waiting into my trunk. I shut the lid and lock it so nothing comes out.

I walk over to my owl Felicis's cage. I named him after the Felix Felicis potion that makes you lucky. I thought it might bring me some luck. So far it hasn't worked. I have a pygmy puff too, her name is Felix, for the other part of the Felix Felicis potion. Her name hsn't been much luck either. I put her in her cage also.

I look down at the floor and see the letter my mother sent me. She isn't coming to say goodbye before I leave. She has 'buisness' to attend. I don't love my mother, i've always just tolorated her. I remember for my tenth birthday she got me a glove, a single glove. Don't get me wrong, she's a great wizard, just. . .well. . . .she can be unsensitive.

I shove the letter into the garbage "Stupid exscuse for a mother."

I walk over to my dresser and pull out an old night gown. I fall into my bed and stare at the ceiling. I look at the elaborate crown molding, never, not once have I liked the decorations at this place. They're always black. Sometimes I forget what the word joy is. Its what you get when your the worlds most evil and feared wizard's daughter, always distruction, never construction. If you know what I mean. . .  . .

-----------------Meanwhile----------------

A dart of black, scruffy fur shoots past my bedroom door as I lay on my bed listening to the radio crackling on about boring rubbish that no one really cares about.

“Oi! Scruff” I call out to my crazy black kitten, well she isn’t really a kitten anymore I got her in my first year

She sticks her head back around my door and gives me the “If you’re not going to feed me then don’t bother speaking to me” look. I notice something scrunched up in her mouth and move to the end of my bed to take a closer look

“Scruff.” I say sternly “What’s that?”

The cat gives me the most fed up look possible and walks out again, I jump off my bed and follow her but she decides to be annoying, as usual. She darts off and I chase after her, down the creaky wooden stairs and into the living room where I (stupidly) decide take my chances and leap at her, unfortunately for me she darts out of the way at the last minute so I land flat on my face with a terrible crunch from my nose, I curse under my breath and stand up. Blood dripping on the floor from my probably broken nose.

Scruff tilts her head at me and drops the letter on the floor then trots off, obviously pleased with herself for causing me a broken nose.

“Stupid Cat...” I mutter as I lean down and take the letter in one hand, the other pinching my nose to stop the blood flow.

My eyes quickly scan over the letter and I see it’s my 3rd year Hogwarts supply list. Soon the holidays will be over and I’ll be back at Hogwarts with Mavis. I’m not an unsociable person, let’s just say most people annoy me…a lot, However Mavis is different she’s the only friend I’ve ever really trusted, the only friend I’ve ever really had.

My older brother Tim walks in, he’s rather tall and thin, black hair and blue eyes, He’s the middle child of the family, we have an older brother; Liam, But he’s moved out

“What have you been up to now Tia...” He says suspiciously

“Nothing!” I exclaim “Why do you think I’m always up to something?”

He rolls his eyes at me and pulls out his wand

“Because, you normally are” he says simply, to be fair. He has a point

I narrow my eyes at him, watching his wand carefully

“What are you going to –“I start

“Episky!” He says quickly and I feel my nose snap back into place I wince and touch it gently and feel most of the pain has gone, just a slight throbbing remains

“Thanks..” I mutter

“Just stay out of trouble, okay?”

“It was the cat.” I say ignoring the looks of doubt obvious on his face

“Right...” he says disbelievingly, “The Cat, gave you a nose bleed, Okay Tia Whatever you say” he says and walks up to his room without another word

I wonder back up to my room and slam the door behind me, grab the thick red pen on my desk and cross off another day on my countdown to Hogwarts calendar. I slump back down on my bed and stare at the ceiling; I wonder what Mavis is up to now? Whatever it is, wherever she is, I hope she’s having a better time than I am.

Tomorrow I will with Mavis. Ready to start a whole new school year. My eyelids silenly shut, and I slowly drift off into sleep. Tomorrow couldn't come soon enough.

Heyyy!! Thanks so much for reading this!! This is me (Tara) and Kirsty's first book so tell us what you think :) Once we choose who will be playing Mavis and Tia, would someone want to make us a cover?

Just to let you know, Tara writes as Mavis and Kirsty writes as Tia, so we split writing the acual book
