Chapter 9

Chase woke me up around 10 and said everyone would be at the house around 3 so that the kids could all play. I said okay I'm gonna get up and go to the grocery store. He said you take my truck and I'll watch the kids. I said okay. I headed to the store and got kind of snacks, stuff for the cookout and enough groceries for us to eat before we leave on Thursday (today is Sunday by the way). I got home and saw Clayton was there and he was cutting grass. I go inside and the girls and Chase are cleaning the house. I said okay it's lunch time and I got stuff for sandwiches, he said okay I'll go get Clayton while you fix everything. I made sandwiches and we sat at the table.

The kids went upstairs and Chase finished the yard. I started the pasta and chili. My phone rang and it was Caroline ...

I said I forgot chips and ice cream for the kids.

I told the kids to get a shower and get ready. I come downstairs and there was Chase all hit and sweaty drinking a beer. I said babe you need a shower. He said I will let me cool off. He said the chili smells delicious, I said well I hope it is.

I headed upstairs and changed clothes. I put on my shorts and a blur lacy tank top with my new sandals. I curled my hair and wore it pulled up. I headed down  stairs when the doorbell rang. It was Tyler and Hayley. Me and Hayley went and chopped the vegetables for the pasta and Chase came down and started the grill. Tyler said I've got you a surprise Lauren! I said o goodness he said Hayley keep the kids inside! I went outside and a brand new swing set was being delivered for the kids. I looked at Chase, I said did you know about this? He said yeah it was I idea I just had to get Tyler's help! I said y'all are the best.

We got everything fixed and everyone was coming, we had a yard full. The girls cleaned up while the boys stayed outside with the kids. Caroline asked if I found a teacher? I said I'm calling tomorrow. I said I have to take the kids back to SC for 2 weeks with their dad's then they are here until fall break. They said well you and Chase will have 2 weeks on the road just the 2 of y'all. I said yeah but I actually think Chase will miss them,  he's really changed as a person because if the kids. His mom spoke up and said yeah we have all noticed how he is acting more and more like his dad everyday. I said please don't tell him because last night he had a breakdown about his dad. She said you should have called me. I said no it wasn't something I couldn't handle. I said he just misses him badly. She said yeah he really has taken it hard.

We headed outside and I told Chase that Tuesday we had to take the kids to SC to visit their dad's for 2 weeks. I saw a tear come down his face. I said babe they will be with us until fall break sometime in October. He said in gonna have to get Clayton a phone. I said we can do that tomorrow lets just enjoy tonight. Everyone started leaving around 9. I went  ahead and sat the kids down and said they had to leave Tuesday for their dad's and would be there 2 weeks. They cried and said they didn't wanna leave us. I said it's only 2 weeks then you'll be home until October for fall break. They said okay and they headed up to bed and we did too
