That night I couldn't sleep I just tossed and turned, trying to stop my thoughts consuming my head. After what seemed like hours of not being able to sleep I got up and slowly walked up to my wardrobe. I slowly opened the doors and kneeled down to get my boxing bag from where it was hidden. I gently pulled it out from its hiding place and walked over to my bed and sat down on the edge. I zipped down the bag and looked inside, but to my surprise there was a letter. A letter that had my "my darling Lexi" wrote in my fathers handwriting. With shaking hands I picked up the envelope and slowly opened it.
*my darling Alexa,
I know that if you have received this letter then I'm not around anymore and for that I'm so sorry. I'm sorry that I'm not there to support you, to train you and most importantly to see you you grow up. But I know that you will turn out to be a wonderful daughter and a fantastic fighter. As I'm your father I know that as I'm not around anymore that you have give up on boxing, but a talent like yours can not be wasted Lexi.
Even though I'm not around doesn't mean I won't be with you every time you step inside that ring. I promise you that baby girl. So pick yourself up and dust yourself off because you are not finished yet! Be strong Lexi, through everything that life throws at you, be that girl I know you are, the one that takes crap from no one, the one that fights for what she believes in, and for what she believes in, and for what's right. Remember Lexi roll with the punches.
All my love,
Daddy
I could finally lie down and relax knowing that my father believed in me because that's all I needed and eventually I fell asleep hugging my fathers letter closer to my chest.
