Great Value

"Jess, run faster!" Nate yells ahead of me. I force my legs to move faster as I look back at the beast. This gigantic 3 headed beast with grey brown fur and its eyes made of pure gold and teeth as sharp as the swords. This creature, this beast, is supposed to be a statue... But Nate tried to open the Egyptian door without casting the spells. He did not know about the curses and traps these pyramids hold. And that's how this beast now came to life.

The worst part is, this is just the start. The journey ahead holds even more traps and risks.

I run past this weak, pale, lifeless, centuries old cave with crooked walls where some unknown creatures crawled upon as the beast chases me. The sound of my legs rustling the leaves and the beat of its paws hitting the ground forms a harmonic rhythm. The cave collapses behind the beast as it keeps chasing me.

I pull out my hunting gun from the buckle on my hip and pull the trigger aiming over its chest. The metal bullets hit and fall over the ground. The beast growls loud and starts chasing us faster than before.

This can't go on forever. I can't keep running away from this. I have to do something.

As I think of this present situation Nate got us into, I notice an old dusted golden door open a little ahead from here. That's it. I can stop this now.

"Nate, go to the door!" I yell loud enough for him to hear me.

He looks at me, confused, "Are you out of your senses, Jess? That beast can enter!"

"Just go. I'll take care of this." Giving him a look of hope, he nods and makes his way towards the door. The beast then makes a loud roar as it notices Nate going towards that direction.

To get its attention, I pick up a rock and throw it over its second head "Hey, you! You pathetic creature. Let's see if you can catch me." With that, it howls in anger.

Now that the chase has become faster, I quickly remove my Egyptian book of spells which I found on one of the adventures with my Dad, and flip through the old, crippled pages to find a spell to make it a statue again.

Ah!

I finally find the spell and cast it out loud.

I stop running as I hear no more paws hitting the floor. I turn around and watch the beast slowly turn into a stone. I pull out my shinning elf sword, jump over its back, digging the swords deep into it and watch it collapse into millions of pieces as I remove.

How I wish Dad was here to watch me do that. Together, we were always stronger.

Putting the thoughts away, I focus of getting back to Nate. I walk back to the door and strangely, I see yellow light passing through it.

I walk in and watch piles of gold around the room. And then I realize that this is the King Luther's treasure. Gold that reached the top of the tall cave, filled with rubies, pearls and crystals. Jewells, crowns and all the other treasure lying in front of my eyes as I watch Nate happily dancing among them.

"We found it, Jess! We finally did." He hugs me.

"Yes, we did it." But my eyes travel somewhere else. I did not care about all this. All I want is that one stone.

I pull away the hug and walk toward the piles and start searching for it. That stone in size of my wrist. This has colors sparkling inside like galaxies. This shines through all the treasure. I search for it.

"Let's go, Jess. We found the treasure."

"No, Nate. Your quest is complete but mine is not. I need to find the Artizostone. You go back and inform them about this treasure. Since we found it, it belongs to us now. But you get the whole because I don't want it. Like we've planned, let the government take it for the benefit for our country."

He frowns, "Why, Jess? Why is that stone so important to you?" he asks "Out of all the treasure we found on the way, you want nothing but that stone. Why?"

Those memories flash my mind again.

And so I tell him my story, "My Dad has spent all this life in search for this stone. And as I grew up, I was on adventures with him too. He died searching for it but he failed. And I want to complete this quest. I want to complete what he couldn't. I want to complete what he died for. This one stone can be nothing compared to all this treasure but it holds a great value to me. My quest doesn't complete till I find it. My soul will not be satisfied without it."

He gives me a weak smile and hugs me, "Good luck. And stay alive, will you? We'll go on some other quest later."

We say over Farewells and I watch him leave. I turn around and search for the stone.

Hours pass and soon did the days.

The stone isn't here. I decide to continue and I begin walking ahead into the cave.

To my surprise, I hear some voices. It grows louder as I walk more ahead. Following those creepy, old, broken voices. I watch the shadows of some figures walking crookedly and when I see, I see a troop of skinny, tall, human figures covered in dusted torn white cloth.

Oh, those. Those 3000 year old living.. Are Mummies.

Smirking, "I will not give up." I pull out the gun and run towards them.

Hello, wonderful people!
This is like a really really short story I've written last year for one of my English exam. And everyone seemed to like it a lot. Especially my Sir and my friend Vahini. I kinda made a promise to her that I will post this over Wattpad. So here it is. I am planning to post a longer version of this if people like it so do let me know your opinion.

I hope you all like it and do feel free to comment or give suggestions.

Thank you c:
