"Wake up, Emma!" I heard my mom call. I lifted my head and checked the time. The time read 3:55 AM. I put my head back down and felt instant laziness. There was no way I was going to wake up this early without an explanation. My mom opened my door and had a look of stress. "Emma. I mean it." I rolled my eyes and forced myself up. I rubbed my eyes and slipped on my slippers. I went to the bathroom to go brush my teeth and get ready. Once again, my mom was standing there. "There's no time for that. Use mouthwash." She told me. I didn't care and did what she said. I was too tired to fight back. I finally gained the strength to say something.
"What's your problem?" I asked, stupidly. My mom had a face of shock and rolled her eyes. You could tell she was infuriated. Damn it. I pissed her off. I thought to myself. "I didn't mean to say it like that, I'm sorry mom." My mom nodded and left the bathroom.
"I guess you don't want to go!" She yelled, while going downstairs to get into her car. I quickly tied my hair up and sprinted downstairs to the car. I looked like total crap, but my mom almost left me alone in the house with my siblings, there's no way I wanted that to happen. My mom remained silent and began to drive. I was silent too, but I had so much in my mind. "Oh yeah. I forgot these." She pulled out two cards from her pocket. It was two Disneyland Annual Passports. I was silently freaking out. I squeaked and squealed. "Guess where we're going?!" She had an excited tone.
"Mom! When did you get these! Thank you so much!" I snatched the card with my name on it and examined it. It was just like a regular card. "But, didn't people find like strange crap here? Like ghosts and stuff?" I remembered the stuff I saw online. I felt a knot tie in my stomach. "I showed you those blog posts." My mom shrugged and took back my ticket.
"Oh well we'll see then." She giggled and punched me jokingly. "Emma, those are rumors. Not true. The government wouldn't let a place like that be operational." I ignored her as I had my own crazy theories, that Disney was working with the government. "Get some shut eye." I fell asleep moments later, and woke up in the happiest place ever.
The parking lot was completely empty. Not one car. "Are we the only ones here?" I asked my mom, frantically. She nodded. It was super creepy. Instead of having a tram, like you usually have to go through, it was a walkway you had to walk on to get to the front gate. We walked and walked until we got to the front. Nobody, but one cast member checking tickets. I looked around the place, and it seemed really beat down. The paint had faded, the grass was dead, the pavement was cracked an dirty. It just looked like it was post apocalyptic. They scanned our passes, and to my surprise, Main Street was in good shape. "We are the only ones here," I observed, "This is weird." As we walked down the street, someone came on the intercom. Their voice was very strong, and it sounded like Mickey Mouse.
"Hello Emma." The intercom said. I began to panic. "Thank you for coming back to me!" It exclaimed. I almost started to cry, because I was so scared of how he knew my name and how we were here, and where he was.
"Let's get the hell out of this place." My mom said. We turned immediately around, to the gates again, nearly sprinting, when the man on the intercom spoke again.
"Don't leave." The moment he said that, the gates locked and all the lights turned off. "Where are you going?" He said this time, not over the intercom, but really close to me. He put his glove on my neck and squeezed. He wouldn't let go, and he kept saying, "Don't leave me." He started to cry. Minnie Mouse suddenly appeared behind my mom, who was trying to free me. She was very bloody and scary.
"You are going to pay." Minnie said, as she squeezed my mom's neck. "Ready Mickey?" She asked.
"Yes." He sobbed. And that's when he pulled me to backstage. There was a Mickey costume that he stuck me inside of. He stuck my mom in the Minnie one. He took off his head, and revealed my long lost brother, the one who disappeared on the Matterhorn. "Thank you." He said in a human voice, and left the park.
