It was the first day of the 11th grade and nothing had changed except for me. Same bullies picking on people who don't bother them and same old snotty girls hanging with the football team. But for me, I had completely changed. New knowledge, new attitude, and new life. A year before I came out to my friends and family; I knew there we weren't any gay guys in my school so I told my family I wouldn't be dating until college, so I never really had to worry about love like my friends. I entered my homeroom that I've had for the past 2 years being at this school that day, but something was different. A new student had arrived to the school , I found out that his father passed away from a long battle of cancer and I decided not to ask about his parents when I met him.
After I had signed in for attendance I went to my group of friends in my homeroom but noticed that the new kid was sitting by himself, so as the nice person that I am, I went over to him. "Hi what's your name?"
He had replied to me with a very soft and nervous hi, so I asked what was wrong. "I feel really uncomfortable with all the students clustered around me."
"Let's go to the back of the room then." I said since he said he felt uncomfortable being near everyone. After i asked him to follow me he seemed more relaxed but still nervous. I asked for his name again.
"Josh." He said, smiling at me as his ocean blue eyes stared into mine. I took a good look at him, and he looked amazing. He had tan skin and sand brown hair that seemed to be perfectly in place. The most fantastic scent came from him, it smelt like mint and lavender.
"Hello Josh. I'm Alex, nice to meet you" I said. Josh said it was nice to meet me too, and I asked him what he liked to do and if he felt up to staying in homeroom for the next 40 minuets since school hadn't actually started yet.
"Yeah." Josh said, and this time his voice was more louder than before, so i guessed he felt more comfortable now. As time passed we had gotten to know each other and by then asked if we could be friends and hangout after school today , I had given him my number just in case he had gotten in trouble with the football team because they have an eye to torture new kids and in return he gave me his. He said thanks and that he would hit me up if he needed me.
The school day flew by and it was 8th period when I felt my cell vibrate in my pocket. I had took it out while the teacher was at her desk grading papers. I looked at it, and the name read Josh.
I asked if I could go to the bathroom and I was permitted. I picked up and Josh seemed exhausted, I was beginning to feel worried. I asked him where he was and I heard the sound of him falling, the phone made a clanking sound that echoed through mine. I ran to find him, Josh had P.E. with the football players right now. When I arrived I realized they jumped him when he was leaving to get a drink of water, lucky for me the gym was across the hall.
I raced to the locker room were Josh was and found him unconscious by his locker, he was hurt badly and there was blood coming from his head. When I went to get him, the guys were surrounding him seeing if he was dead, I yelled and said step away from him. They had a bad run in with me freshman year so they don't like fighting me. They did as they were told. I picked Josh up and took him to the infirmary at the school. 8th period had ended and school was over. It took Josh 30 minutes to wake up after the bell rang so by then I had gotten our bags from our lockers and brought them to the nurses office.
The nurse had asked me if I wanted to go home. I said no. I needed to speak with Josh's mother about the matter since I was the only one who knows what was going on. The nurse said it was fine and called Josh's mother to the school.
She arrived at the school 15 minutes later since her job was down the road from the school, and I guided her to her son. She had a lot of questions. Josh told her what happened.
"How did you get to the nurse, honey?" His mother asked, and that's how i came into play.
"The guys were wondering if he was alive or not and I told them to back away. They listened to me and when i saw him on the floor I picked him up and took him here, that's what happened." I said.
I could tell Josh questioned what I could have done that made them listen to me because I'm not the type of guy to fight people, and I made a mental note to explain if he brought it up. His mom thanked me and asked me if I could go to there place for dinner. I said " sure".
On the drive to Josh's house his mom asked me if we knew each other. "Yes," I replied. "We have the same homeroom together and we are friends." We entered Josh's house and his mom told us to go to his room while she starts to cook dinner. Josh led me to his room and my god it was really big.
"I got the biggest room in the house just in case I have company over." He said. We went towards his bed and we put our bags down and laid down. I told him to wait a few minutes because I needed to call my mom and he patiently waited.
" Hey mom, I'm at a friend's house and might stay the night." I said (my mom only agreed because my dumbass didn't realize that I live across the street from him).
"Okay, I'll bring you clothes tomorrow." My mom said. I was really glad because my mom never says yes to anything when you first ask. After the call I asked Josh if I could stay over because I didn't want to be home by myself tomorrow morning. He had asked and it was ok.
"Awesome, so what do you want to do since we don't have any homework?" I asked, staring into his blue eyes for the second time today.
"Lets watch a movie and talk." I agreed with him and he put in Resident Evil, which happened to be a movie I really liked. As we watched the movie I found out a lot. For example, he really likes reading and movies. "Hey Alex can I ask you something" said Josh, as the movie was about to end.
"What's up Josh?" I said, slightly on edge about what he might ask.
"What is your sexuality?" He asked, looking straight into my green eyes. I had to answer him honestly.
"I'm gay Josh ,why?"
"No reason." He said innocently.
"Oh really so then you don't mind that I'm going to be sleeping in your bed tonight?" I said, seeing how he would react. Josh blushed.
"No, not at all. It's okay if you have a thing for me."
"Really? I thought you would be mad at me."
"Of course not. I don't have a reason to get mad at you.." Josh paused. "Plus, I have a crush on you."
I was surprised. "Really, you have a crush on me?"
"Um yeah, I'm gay too. I thought you wouldn't like me because I seemed very weak in the locker room." Josh said shyly, looking down in shame.
"Josh, you had blood coming from your head. I think that would make a lot of people weak." I reassured.
"Well Alex, since we both like each other want to go on a date tonight?" Josh asked.
"Where to? My car is across the street where I live plus aren't we suppose to eat dinner here?"
"No," Josh replied with a mischevious grin. "I told my mom that we are going out to eat so she could have a break and I can go on a date with you. That is, if you say yes."
"Josh, you have a cooler mom than I thought. Let's go. Grab what you need and I will grab my car and pull it up front. See you in 5 minutes."
