"If I could give parents one piece of advice it would be clam down, stop stressing and things aren't as bad as they seem. You're too over protective. " I cried into my palms at Hyde Park while Mateo put his arm around me in the cold English winter. I could smell his cologne as he leaned down towards me. In his soft and comforting voice he replied,
"You're right, things aren't as bad as the seem, but you need to think about your future too. Your IQ is the the highest that England has had in over 100 years, you can't just through that away."
I look up to see a smile on Mateo's face and the bright blue of his eyes shining with the way the winter sun hit them.
Mateo put his hands on my ripped jeans, his dark Italian giving me a sense of warmth and protection.
I look at Mateo's hand on my leg and slowly look up towards his see blue eyes.
"Run away with me."
Mateo manages to to keep his smile. This isn't his 'I support you' smile, it's his 'I'm trying to understand you' smile.
"Run away with you? I don't know. Let's go for a walk and talk about this."
Mateo stood up, his tall muscular figure leans in towards me and kisses my cheek and interlocked his hand with mine and we start to walk around Hyde Park.
As we were walking the heavens echoed my feelings of despair by unleashing a torrent of icy rain drops that stung my skin. Mateo and I raced to find shelter and the closest bit of shelter we can find is under an antique lamp post. Mateo opens my locket he gave me when I turned 16 and smiles at the photograph of us. I run my hand through his chocolate brown hair and stare into his eyes forgetting my worries momentarily. We passionately kiss and the heavens cried harder. We both looked up at the sky and laughed at how this was like a cliched love story.
"Mateo where are we?"
"We are on Sixth Street."
Mateo and I started to walk towards Oxford Circus when Mateo looked down at me with question in his eyes. I turned to him.
"Mateo, I'm pregnant."
Mateo's eyes looked as though all his dreams had been crushed my heart sank. I started to run away from Mateo, wishing my life was like one of those stupid love stories. There, the end. Mateo was still standing there when I turned to see what he was doing, he slowly looked at me, I turned and kept running. I just wanted to escape from the city and follow the sun. I found a little roof to sit under, I buried my eyes in my palms for the second time today, remembering the fight I had with my parents earlier this morning over this baby and my future.
"I don't ever want to see you cry like that again, I'll run away with you. Just you, me and our baby. I love you."
I felt Mateo's arm around me for the second time today. He touches my chin and moves it towards his and I find myself lost in his see blue eyes. My stress melted away, as the clouds parted revealing the bright warm English sun. Together we'd find a way, just like a stupid love story.
