All I could think about was my dad. Daddy hold on please hold on, I repeated in my head. He'll be alright, he's not gonna die. He won't die. A bright light shined in both of my eyes. I blinked them shut then shot up.
"Where am I!" I shouted.
"Calm down." Said a man in a white coat. I'm guessing he's the doctor.
"MY DADDY WHERE IS HE!" Yes I still refer my dad as daddy.
"Calm down and well get you to him. But you better calm down fast. His heart beat is slowing." A river of tears escaped my eyes. I quickly wiped them away and the doctor nodded his head and ordered me to follow him. We walked out of the small room I was staying in. Then he turned and walked towards the I.C.U. WHAT! HE'S I THE FRICKING I.C.U!
"He's just this way," he mumbled.
"WHY IS HE IN THE I.C.U?!"
"Calm down miss." Said one of the nurses. The doctor stopped in front of a door marked 17.
"I-is this him?" I lowered my voice. He nodded his head.
"Luke... We have to tell her!" My mom whisper shouted.
"No..," my dad coughed. "Not today... She'll learn soon enough." What? Who were they talking about? I'm pretty sure they were talking about me.
"Luke... You know she has to find out. She will find out very-"
"DADDY!" I ran and hugged him. I know, I know, I'm 17 and calling my dad daddy. He smiled and tears rolled down his cheeks.
"Sweety," he hugged me back.
"W-wha-what happened?" I asked him. My mom, Lucinda, was going to say something but my dad cut her off.
"Lucinda, it was a car accident." I knew it wasn't. I could tell by the look and pain in my moms eyes. She starred at my dad for a long time then she shook her head. What was that about? It seamed like they were having a private conversation in their mind. I chuckled to myself. That could never happen.
"Yeah sweetheart it was a car crash. Very bad. But the other driver wasn't hurt." Said my mom.
"Daddy, you'll be ok right?" I asked. Glancing at the heart monitor, it said his heart was beating slower than usual. "No! Daddy! This can't be happening!" He shook his head and pulled my head down to kiss it.
"Baby girl, promise me that you'll be good for your mom, get good grades, and stay strong. Please I love you and I know you know that but... It's my time to go. Tala, your great, fun awesome, crazy, and I'm lucky I have you as a daughter." He said. I cried and held on to his hand.
"Daddy you can't go. Me and mom need you." My mom came and sat by him. The doctor lightly taped my shoulder.
"Miss, you need to leave." I glared at him but my dad squeezed my hand.
"I love you daddy." With that I kissed him on the cheek, hugged him, and left him with my mom. The doctor lead me to the waiting room and I was surprised to see Keira, Mrs. Chanda, and wait? Rhys?
"Tala!" Shouted Keira. She ran to me and gave me a hug. Mrs. Chanda did too and Rhys mumbled his sorry's. I cried into Keira's shoulder and heard the annoying sound that the heart monitor makes when your heat stopes beating. I cried even harder and Keira kept repeating there there and paying my back.
"My dear I'm very sorry." Said Mrs. Chanda. "I have Get back home... But I'm sure Rhys could take you home since... Well I'm pretty sure your moms not going to be able to take you."
"Yeah I can take you." He said.
"Tala," said Keira. "I have to go... Are you sure you'll be ok?"
"Yeah I will." I answered.
"Ok..." She hugged me one last time. "Call me if you need me." I nodded my head
"Will do." Mrs. Chanda and Keira said their good byes and soon it was just me and Rhys. Alone. In the waiting room.
"Well... Um... I'm pretty sure you want to get some rest. You can sleep in the car. Your house is about 3 hours away. Auntie Chanda told me." He blabbed.
"Can we go now... I never really liked hospitals." He nodded his head and made his way to the elevator. We got to his car and opened my door like a gentle-man. I smiled. He touched my cheek and something crossed his eyes. Love? Desire? But then again, as soon as it hit it disappeared.
"Thank you Rhys. For taking me home." He smiled.
"Your welcome." My fingers went up to trace his smile. I tried to take my hand away but it didn't work. I couldn't fight myself. He placed his hands around my neck and I wanted them to stay there. He leaned closer to me and I regained my sanity.
"I-I... We can't." He nodded and mumbled sorry. Rhys put the key in the ignition and started singing to one of my favorite songs
"Standing in the hall of fame
And the world's gonna know your name
Cause you burn with the brightest flame
And the world's gonna know your name
And you'll be on the walls of the hall of fame!!!!"
Man, can Rhys sing. He sang better than the original singer, The Script. I lied my head on the window lazily.
"Rhys, if its fine with you I'm going to take a nap. PLEASE don't wake me up." He smiled then nodded. Then started singing Don't Wake Me Up by Cris Brown. That earned him a slap upside the head. But soon enough I was asleep.
*My Dream*
I starred at the reflection in the crystal blue water. I was a wolf. All white accept for a black heart around my right eye. I had gray eyes that reminded me of smoke. A very familiar figure walked behind me.
"Tala," Rhys smiled. RHYS? WHAT? All the sudden golden wings burst out of his back. What the?
*Dream Ends*
I shoot up awake. Rhys gave me a weird look. I had to blink to remember he really didn't have wings.
"Tala, you ok?" He asked me concerned. I nodded my head.
"J-just a weird dream."
"You wanna talk about it?" Sure, why not.
"We'll um... I was a wolf... And you came behind me with golden wings..." I said nervously. He tensed. What the? We stayed quiet the rest of the drive to my house.
